Ready for ResMed's latest flagship auto CPAP machine with a remote connection feature? Try the ResMed AirSense 11 Automatic CPAP machine.

ResMed AirSense 10 Auto CPAP Machine

If you are looking for a whisper-quiet, reliable and user-friendly CPAP machine, the ResMed AirSense 10 Auto CPAP Machine is your answer. This sleek auto CPAP comes with a built-in heated humidifier, advanced event detection, on-screen sleep report, lightweight SlimLine Tubing and comfort features like EPR (expiratory pressure relief), AutoRamp and SmartStart, delivering comfort without sacrificing therapy effectiveness. And with an operation noise of just 26 decibels, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is truly no louder than a whisper.

Perfect for New Users
The AirSense 10 Auto CPAP may lack some of the latest bells and whistles like Bluetooth connectivity and a color touchscreen, but it makes up for it with all the comfort and therapy settings you need for effective sleep apnea treatment. Featuring EPR for easier exhalation, as well as ResMed’s advanced AutoRamp algorithm, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is the perfect machine for new CPAP users. With AutoRamp, you can fall asleep easier at a lower pressure, and once the machine detects sleep onset, it will start increasing pressure to your prescribed setting.

SmartStart is another convenient feature that helps ease you into therapy. When enabled, it automatically starts the CPAP machine once you put on your mask and start breathing. When you remove your mask, the AirSense 10 will shut off automatically. SmartStart is not only helpful for quickly getting settled in bed, but it also eliminates the need to reach for buttons in the dark.

Optimize Humidification with ClimateLineAir Heated Tubing
The AirSense 10’s integrated humidifier delivers warm air to help you sleep better. Without heated humidification, there’s a chance you’ll wake up with a dry mouth and sinuses. You can optimize your sleep even more by swapping out the SlimLine Tubing with the optional AirSense 10 ClimateLineAir Heated Tubing.

This heated hose enables “Climate Control Auto”, an intelligent humidification mode designed to minimize the need for multiple humidity adjustments. In "Climate Control Auto," the machine adjusts the humidifier output to maintain a comfortable 85% relative humidity and keep the tube temperature at 80°F. When used together, the humidifier and heated tube prevent excessive condensation in the CPAP hose and mask.

Cellular Connectivity & Remote Sleep Data Monitoring
With the AirSense 10 AutoSet, your doctor can view your CPAP compliance and make setting changes remotely. As long as you have cellular service, the AirSense 10 will be able to upload your sleep data to the cloud and download any setting changes made by your doctor. You can also access your sleep data yourself via the ResMed myAir app, which is available on iOS and Android.

If your prefer not to use the app, you can still access crucial sleep therapy information such as usage hours, leak data, AHI etc. directly on the machine. Learn how to view your AHI on the ResMed AirSense 10

Or, download your sleep data from the AirSense 10 AutoSet via a SD card (sold separately) using a third-party software. Watch our OSCAR (Open Source CPAP Analysis Reporter) Setup Video to learn how you can view sleep data on this free software.

Removable Water Chamber
The ResMed AirSense 10 Auto CPAP comes with a built-in heated humidifier with a removable water chamber for easy cleaning. The water chamber can also be removed to make the machine more compact for travel. It’s worth noting that since removing the water chamber leaves a noticeable gap in the side of the device, you will need to insert the AirSense 10 Side Cover in its place.

Default Machine Settings:

  • Ramp: Auto
  • Start Pressure: 4 cm H2O
  • Humidity Level: 4
  • Mask Type: Pillows
  • EPR: Off
  • SmartStart: Off
  • Tube Type: SlimLine

FAQ

Can I track my sleep therapy data with the AirSense 10 AutoSet?
Yes, you can track your sleep data via the myAir app, by SD card download or by viewing it directly on the machine. To view your sleep data on the machine, select the “Sleep Report” menu on the home screen. If you wish to see your AHI (number of breathing events per hour) within the Sleep Report menu, you will need to first enable “Essentials Plus'' on the machine.

See full instructions on how to view your AHI on the AirSense 10 .

Is the AirSense 10 travel-friendly? Can I remove the humidifier?
While not explicitly designed for travel, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is still a very portable machine. The humidifier is built-in but you can remove the water chamber to reduce the size of the machine. Please note that if you remove the water chamber, you will need to insert the ResMed AirSense/AirCurve 10 Side Cover in its place.

Can I bring the AirSense 10 on a plane?
The AirSense 10 is FAA-approved for in-flight use. We recommend packing it as a carry-on as medical equipment does not count towards an airline's carry-on limit. To protect your machine from water damage, please make sure to empty your water chamber before packing.

Does the AirSense 10 ClimateLineAir Heated Tube work with any ResMed machine?
The AirSense 10 ClimateLineAir Heated Tube is only compatible with ResMed AirSense 10/AirCurve 10 models. It is not compatible with ResMed AirSense 11 or S9 models.

Does the AirSense 10 AutoSet adjust air pressure automatically?
Yes, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is an auto CPAP machine, meaning it automatically adjusts pressure within the prescribed pressure range. The AirSense 10 AutoSet also has a standard CPAP mode.

What is the EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief) feature?
EPR is a comfort feature that reduces the amount of pressure you need to exhale against when breathing out. It makes CPAP therapy more comfortable and can help first-time CPAP users adjust quicker to sleep apnea therapy.

How can I adjust pressure settings on the AirSense 10?
Pressure settings can only be adjusted via the Clinical Menu. This video shows how you can enter the Clinical Menu to adjust settings. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider prior to making adjustments as changes to your pressure settings may affect the effectiveness of your sleep apnea treatment.

Is there a DC converter for the AirSense 10 AutoSet?
Yes, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is compatible with this ResMed DC Converter

What batteries are compatible with the AirSense 10 AutoSet?
The AirSense 10 AutoSet is compatible with the Medistrom Pilot-24-Lite CPAP Battery, Zopec EXPLORE 5700 Universal CPAP Battery and Zopec EXPLORE Oxygen CPAP Backup Battery.

Do I need filters for the AirSense 10 AutoSet?
Yes, a filter should always be used with the AirSense 10 AutoSet to prevent dust accumulation in the machine and to reduce your exposure to airborne particles. The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet is compatible with disposable and hypoallergenic filters. Only one type of filter can be used at a time.

AirSense 10 In-Depth Review by Pam Schmidt, RRT, RCP

When it comes to CPAP, there are a number of factors to consider, such as size, weight, noise level, and appearance. If you need a sleep apnea machine that meets all of your requirements, the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet with HumidAir is the perfect solution.

This AutoPAP machine is 10.04" in length, 4.57" in width, and 5.91" in height, with a weight of less than 3 pounds when the water chamber is attached. Compared to other AutoPAP machines, it is noticeably quieter at just 26.6 dBA so you can throw away those earplugs. Aside from being whisper quiet, the AirSense 10 AutoSet is stylish and modern and fits right in on the nightstand like a clock radio.

Humidification is an important comfort feature for modern CPAP machines and ResMed has taken the AirSense 10 AutoSet humidification system to the next level with their ClimateLineAir heated tube. The ClimateLineAir heated tube helps maintain a constant temperature throughout the entire CPAP circuit, eliminating excess condensation which can lead to rainout.

Other features that help this unit stand out are AutoRamp, SmartStart, and Expiratory Pressure Relief. All three of these features are for comfort and convenience to help you fall asleep with ease.

AutoRamp allows the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP machine to gradually increase pressure once it senses you are asleep. The ramp pressure will increase from the starting ramp pressure to your prescribed minimum pressures setting, allowing a smooth transition from wakefulness to sleep. You can also forgo the AutoRamp feature and set ramp pressure based on time. Ramp time can be set in 5 minute increments from 0 to 45 minutes.

Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR) is a standard feature on all ResMed CPAP machines starting from the S9 line. Many CPAP users find it difficult to breathe out when on CPAP because the machine is pushing air into you. EPR makes it easier to exhale by lowering the delivered air pressure when you breathe out. This reduces the effort it takes to exhale, allowing for a more natural breathing pattern and an easier time falling asleep.

The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet comes with a travel bag that is large enough to accommodate the machine, hose, power supply, and a CPAP mask or two. The bag also features compartments that allow for convenient organization of your CPAP equipment. While the AirSense 10 is a tad too large to fit in an overnight bag with clothes and personal items, it can still be easily packed and taken with you in its designated travel bag.

In my opinion, the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet boasts exceptional features that can elevate your CPAP therapy to the next level!

Do You Need Heated CPAP Tubing?

Review by Anne G. RPSGT, RST

ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP Machine review by Anne

Heated CPAP tubing serve one primary purpose: preventing moisture buildup in the tube. The heated and humidified air from your CPAP machine cools as it travels from the machine to your face, leading to condensation buildup that, in extreme cases, result in water sloshing around in your hose and mask. If there is a draft nearby (e.g., you sleep with a fan on or near the window), or if you sleep with the AC on, the odds of this happening is even greater.

Condensation in your CPAP tubing is a problem as air flowing past the water droplets can create loud popping sounds that disrupt your sleep. Excess condensation or rainout can result in water splashing onto your face or even into your nose!

Using a heated hose solves these problems because the heated hose helps maintain a constant temperature throughout your CPAP circuit. This temperature control insulates the air inside the tubing from the cooler temperature in its surroundings. As an added bonus, you can even adjust the temperature in the heated hose for your comfort, making this a great upgrade from the standard hose!

I've been using this machine for 16 months now and have experienced a number of benefits as follows:
1. My wife loves it because there is no more snoring from me. All she hears is a very quiet air noise.
2. No more acid reflux. I suspect that the continuous movement of air down my throat inhibits acidity from my stomach coming up. I think I first noticed that I was no longer taking Tums occasionally before going to bed after about 3 - 4 months.
3. Better sleep. I fall asleep quickly and get around 7.5 to 8 hours per night.
4. Sleep through the night without getting up in the middle of the night to go to the rest room. I first noticed this change after about 9 - 10 months of usage. Now after 16 months, I can't remember the last time I did not sleep uninterrupted through the night.
5. I don't feel tired during the day anymore. However, if I lay back in my reclining chair during the day, I will fall asleep. So I deliver myself from temptation by keeping busy unless I feel like a nap and since I'm retired it's OK.
6. A possible long-term benefit may be less likelihood of or delay of the onset of Alzheimers or other mental problems. Don't know but maybe there's research in this area.

Subject: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet Cpap
I have only had it a week. The first couple days was a little tough as I was waking up in the night with a very dry mouth and there was a little condensation in my nasal pillow/nose. The humidifier was set on 4, so I moved it to 1. Same thing, dry mouth a little condensation. On my old machine I hardly every used the humidifier and do not remember ever having a dry mouth, though I did have condensation from time to time.
Read the booklet and reviews on the internet regarding the dry mouth. Increased the humidifier to 6. The last two nights, no dry mouth and no condensation. :)
It is quieter than my old CPap. Though I could start my old machine with just a strong breath into my nasal pillows. Not sure if AirSense 10 allows you to do that or at least I haven't figured out how to set it up for that.
Overall, I really like it!

Subject: LOVE this machine
I've been CPAP dependent for many years and this is my fifth machine. I've had ResMed machines before and was very happy but my current provider had me get a different brand. When that machine was recalled I was going crazy without a machine so even though I could not afford it, I purchased an AirSense10. I LOVE IT! It is quite and seems to deliver more air than my previous machine even though the settings are the same. I don't use the moist air feature so they even have a side cap to make the machine even more compact. I did have to search far and wide to find out how to set the automatic start up so if you are purchasing one, you may as them to do that prior to shipping.

Subject: Good
I have had this machine for just over one month as a replacement for the Dreamstation 1 which I had for a little over one year. I liked the Dreamstation 1. I like this machine even better. I have read complaints about the humidifier tank and how filling it is an inconvenience. I think that is a very minor thing and does not bother me at all. I love the size, lightweight, the bluetooth connectivity and the quitness of this machine. I have flown with all three Phillips machines I have had in the past 18 years. This is the smallest and lightest. Would I like the humidifier tank easier to remove and fill? Yes. Is it a deal breaker? No. I am happy with this machine.

Question
I have had machine turned off but still feel air coming through the tube. It is not a rush of pressure like when I have my mask on but it is a gentle air, is this normal ?

Answer
After therapy has stopped, your device will blow a small amount of air to avoid condensation in the device and air tube. This will stop automatically after 20 minutes.

Question
I have been told after 6-7 years of use, I need to replace my Resmed 10. I have asked my primary care dr. for an authorization. Once I get that it looks like replacing my machine is less expensive thru you than Apria which runs thru my insurance (but they have other Resmeds, more expensive). Can I order from you and then bill my insurance. I have a 20% copay. Also there really isn't any dr. monitoring my use of this machine, we moved from CA to AZ, so can it be "offline". I use it every day. But no one is looking. Thanks a million, Sissi

Answer
Hello, unfortunately we are unable to direct bill to insurance, so you will have to check with your insurance provider if they would reimburse you for an "out of network" purchase. Just mention the cost of the device, and ask if they require anything specific on the invoice we provide when you order. Thank you.

Question
What is the difference on Resmed 10 black and for her version. I have a for her version and it works fine I am looking to purchase another but do not see "For her" models available, what is different on the "For her" version that is different on the black model?

Answer
Hi, The only real difference between the two models, aside from how they look cosmetically, is that the standard AirSense 10 has two modes, CPAP and AutoSet (APAP), whereas AirSense 10 for Her includes these two modes plus an additional third mode with an algorithm specially designed to treat sleep apnea in women.
Resmed 10 can be used for men or women https://www.respshop.com/cpap-machines/auto-cpap/resmed-airsense-10-autoset-cpap-with-humidair-p-846.html, Thanks

Question
Sometimes I feel like my water chamber has an odor, can I add essential oils to it to help with this?

Answer
You should not add anything to your water chamber. Be sure to always use distilled water and clean it regularly in mild soapy water.

Was this helpful?
Question
Do I have to use the humidifier because it is attached to the machine or can I use it without turning on the humidifier feature even though it is attached? Also, is distilled water the only option?

Answer
Distilled water is always the safest to use and recommended. If you do not want to use the humidifier, go into your options and turn off your humidifier before use.
