S9 AutoSet is discontinued and replaced by ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet .
Elite, Comfortable, and Popular CPAP Machine
Introducing the ResMed S9 AutoSet, ResMed's premier and most popular continuous positive airway pressure machine. ResMed has long been known as one of the leaders in the CPAP machine industry, and the tradition continues with the S9 AutoSet. This device tracks every one of your breaths to ensure that you're constantly getting optimal therapy, and it comes with a mask fitting feature that lets you know you have a good seal. With shared data, a heated humidifier, and Easy-Breathe technology to keep your machine running quietly and efficiently, the AutoSet has everything you would expect in a premium sleep apnea therapy product.
AutoSet
ResMed's AutoSet Algorithm tracks your personal flow inhibitors with every breath. Measuring your snoring and apneas, the device automatically adjusts pressure emissions based on your air flow. Pressure will subside after flow has been corrected. By monitoring your breathing habits on a breath-by-breath basis, the S9 is the quickest responding sleep apnea therapy device on the market. This quick response gives you pressure when you need it, and with these manageable adjustments, the machine works to ensure that your needs are met in a timely and efficient manner. The machine is also great when you're sick: the S9 will detect that you are having difficulties breathing through your nose, and will automatically increase the pressure supply, allowing you to get a comfortable rest when you need it most. And because the S9 is such a silent machine, these changes will occur quietly enough to not disturb you or your partner.
Mask Fitting
ResMed allows users to help them select a properly fitting mask. ResMed's Mask-Fit system allows you to preset a mask type and tailor your S9 therapy to a particular style (nasal, pillows, or full face). Once you've selected a mask, the system runs a 3 minute seal test to make sure you've properly sealed your mask. If you have, a green smiley face will appear; if a red frownie face shows up instead, you should reset the mask and try again.
EasyBreathe Technology
ResMed's Easy-Breathe technology smoothes the transition between pressure changes from inhalation to exhalation. By making these sequences smoother, you'll be less likely to disrupt the flow of treatment, and the machine will make the switch quietly, so both you and your partner will remain asleep.
Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR)
EPR decreases pressure at the beginning of every breath and limits pressure throughout exhalation. Pressure will be reduced by one, two, or three centimeters of water pressure, depending on your settings and personal preference. These pressure changes are made gradually, so you won't be awaken during the night, and the machine won't suddenly make noise. The EPR feature also detects when you're having an unnatural breathing episode: if an apnea lasts for more than ten seconds, EPR will stop until your normal breathing cycle resumes. ResMed also designed EPR with ramp technology, which works to steadily add pressure to your breathing cycles from the time you start your machine. To use this feature, simply set the machine to EPR RAMP ONLY.
H5i Humidifier
ResMed overhauled their humidification system with their S9 design. The ResMed H5i Heated humidifier helps reduce symptoms that are commonly associated with CPAP therapy, including: dry mouth, dry throat, nasal congestion, and soreness. The humidifier is compatible with the AutoSet and all other ResMed S9 devices, and it works to provide users with a more therapeutic night of sleep. Humidification is especially beneficial for users who store or use their machines in cold temperatures. The warmer air from the humidifier makes it easier to breathe and will help you drift off to sleep quickly.
ClimateLine Tubing
In the S9, ResMed designed for the Climate Control system to be managed by a combination of the machine, the heated tube, and the humidifier itself. The ClimateLine has an internally heated coil as well as a temperature censor to ensure that the temperature of the humidified air is constant. The device comes with five sensors that monitor the S9's temperature and humidity settings, keeping your machine running at peak performance. Just set the level of humidity yourself, and enjoy a relaxing, rainout-free night's sleep! If you don't want a SlimLine or ClimateLine tube though, don't worry: traditional tubes are compatible with the S9 as well.
SlimLine
The S9 comes with ResMed's standard small diameter air tube. The hose comes with a temperature gauge and a heated coil that guards against rainout. The tube's flexibility is also great for people who toss and turn at night.
On Display Data
Two menus provide you with information about compliance, your therapy, and machine settings: the standard menu and the clinical menu. Both can be accessed by using the "Info" button on your module. All information is presented on an easy to read LCD system.

Reviewers Tip:
If possible, use distilled water in your humidifier's chamber. This prevents calcium and other minerals and bacteria from building up and clogging your chamber.
FAQ
Water is getting into the tubing:
Your humidification settings may be too high. Turn down the humidifier and dry or clear any remaining water from your tube.
I'm getting a message that says "card error, please remove SD card and contact service provider."
You probably don't need to contact your service provider. Odds are, you just didn't put the SD card in correctly. Try removing the card and putting it in again.
I'm getting a message saying "high temperature fault, refer to user manual."
Your CPAP has been left in a hot climate. Make sure to cool it down before using it again. Remove any power cords or adapters, and then reboot. Also, try to keep your machine in a cooler environment whenever possible.
