Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine by Breas

Take your sleep therapy anywhere with the Breas Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine. At only 10.5 ounces and about 7 inches long, it’s as lightweight as a roll of paper towel and easily fits into your suitcase.

With a free Q-Lite muffler, this device operates at just 26 decibels, making it truly whisper-quiet.

Despite its compact size, the Breas Z2 Auto packs all the features you’ll find in quality CPAP machines, including:

  • Z-Breathe Exhalation Relief - reduces air pressure during exhalation
  • Auto Start/Stop - starts therapy once you put on the mask and stops it upon mask removal
  • Ramp - starts therapy at a low pressure and gradually increases it to your prescribed pressure

Included with the Breas Z2 is a Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME) for waterless humidification. It recycles heat and moisture from your exhaled breath, so there’s no need to bring distilled water when you travel.

Complete your travel CPAP kit with the FAA-approved PowerShell Module with Extended Battery. Capable of delivering up to 8.9 hours of runtime on 20 cm H2O, it makes the Z2 the perfect CPAP machine for off-grid travel.

Yes, the Breas Z2 Auto is an auto CPAP machine which automatically adjusts pressure within a set minimum and maximum pressure range. The Z2 also has a standard CPAP mode with a fixed pressure.
The Breas Z2 is FAA-approved for in-flight use. We recommend packing it as a carry-on and bringing a copy of the FAA compliance letter

Please note that airline policies regarding in-flight CPAP use can vary. Always familiarize yourself with your airline’s on-board CPAP use policy prior to traveling.
With an operation noise of only 26 dBA, the Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine is one of the quietest travel CPAPs on the market.
While the app helps improve your Breas Z2 experience, it is not required to use the machine.
The Breas Z2 Auto does not come with a battery. However, you can add the PowerShell with Extended Battery (designed exclusively for Breas Z1 and Z2 CPAPs) when adding the Z2 to your shopping cart.
Please refer to the Quick Start Guide for instructions on using your Z2 and connecting it and its accessories to your mask.
The Z2 Auto does not have a built-in humidifier, instead it provides humidification using the compact Breas Z1/Z2 Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME). The HME is a more convenient and portable option to traditional humidifiers that require water.

The Z1/Z2 disposable air filter should be replaced monthly for optimal performance. The Z1/Z2 HME should be replaced after 7 days of use or when it’s no longer providing humidification.

The Q-Lite Muffler should be replaced as necessary, such as when damaged or when there is an increase in airflow and/or machine noise.
This video demonstrates how to adjust Ramp Start Pressure, Ramp Time, Z-Breathe, and Auto Start/Stop.

The default settings are:

  • Pressure: 4-20 cm H2O
  • Ramp Time: 15 minutes
  • Ramp Start Pressure: 4 cm H2O
  • Z-Breathe: APAP 3
  • Bluetooth: On
  • Auto Start/Stop: On
However, your Z2 Auto CPAP will arrive preset with the therapy pressure indicated on your prescription.

1–10 of 23 Questions
Q. I have a ResMed air sense 10 that I use an F 20 mask and frame set up. Can you tell me if this is compatible with this machine? Will my elbow that goes to my frame plug right into this or does it come with a different elbow?
A. Any mask will work with this machine! No need for any special attachments!
Q. Does the Breas Z2 Auto qualify for Medicare DME coverage? I am due for a CPAP replacement and would like to get a smaller unit that would work better for travel.
A. Hi there! You would need to contact your insurance regarding coverage or reimbursement first before placing an order as we cannot bill insurance directly.

https://www.respshop.com/insurance_claim.php
Q. Do you have any tips for where to place this CPAP at night while in use? I can't find a mount for it like the AirMini. I don't want it to fall on the floor!
A. Hi there,
we have some patients who place it inside their night stand drawer and leave the drawer open for the machine to be able to get adequate airflow. If you do not have a drawer, we recommend to place it on top of a small box on the ground.
Q. I received my Z2 but the time is incorrect. I can't seem to find how to change the time on the device.
A. You can change the date and time on your Z1 or Z2 Auto, by connecting it to the Nitelog app on an iPhone/iPad or most Android devices. The app should prompt you to sync to the local date and time upon start up.
Q. I have a z1 machine . I bought it in 2018 I think. Went on a trip and error 33 came up and couldn’t use it. What is wrong with my machine?
Thank you
A. A fault 33 means the internal battery for memory has stopped working and can no longer save data in its memory. Please be aware that the life span for all batteries is limited.
Q. I am travelling with my Breas Z2 internationally, do I need to take a copy of my sleep study or CPAP prescription with me ?
A. It is not mandatory to carry the prescription for the machine. However, in a rare event, a TSA agent might need an additional information for your equipment, and if you don't have one, they may argue that you're using the machine unlawfully.

Also, if your CPAP device breaks down, you'll need the prescription to get an emergency replacement or supplies you may have forgotten to pack. So it is a good practice to keep your doctor's prescription handy because you can never know when an emergency could arise.
Q. My doctor has written me a Prescription for a Travel CPAP. Currently I use a Airsense 11 and use the EPR at 3. Does the Breas also have the EPR setting as well ?
A. Yes, the Breas Z2 device calls it a Z-Breathe and you have an option to set it from off- 3. It is the same concept, an advanced comfort option that will reduce the pressure from your CPAP when you exhale, making it easier to breathe and helping your therapy feel as natural as possible.
Q. I recently purchased this machine and it seems like my Nitelog app is not working with my phone (Android). Is there another way I can look at the details of my data?
A. Unfortunately, we do not receive any advanced notice when the Android operating system is being changed by Google. An added complication is that the Android operating system is not exactly the same for every phone manufacturer using it. At the moment there are hundreds of different Android phones on the market.
Breas is currently in the process of revising the Nitelog app program to address these changes to the Android OS. But this update will take time to be developed. We do not currently have an ETA for this.
The good news is the Breas has a desk top software, and the USB cable that came with your machine will be able to assist with plugging your machine to your lap top or computer. You can also make changes to your clinical settings on the device itself.
Q. If I'm travelling internationally, will I need a power converter?
A. The power conversion will happen within the cable. The power brick allows for 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. What you will need is a wall adapter to physically plug the machine in to the wall. They are available here: https://www.respshop.com/cpap-supplies/battery-power/medili-universal-travel-charger-adapter-plug-p-156.html
Q. Will I have to take this Z2 to my doctor to set it up if I purchase with you?
A. No, you will not. We will set up your cpap as per your prescription before we ship it out.

Subject: Breas
I recently received my Breas rental machine and I love! I chose this machine because of the wonderful staff at RespShop, I explained to them how sensitive my wife is to sound and that she is just able to tolerate my home machine as of recently, however, anything significantly louder then I may have been on the couch for the duration of our trip! I was informed that this machine is the most quiet of them all which worked great in my favor. I also occasionally have issues with humidity, despite going to a more moist climate I also purchased the Breas HME. I only ended up having to use the one out of the two I purchased which lasted a week. I was very appreciative of the staff for making me aware that this may have been an issue. I already used Respshop as my supplier of my equipment. They knew which mask I already, I was told it would work with it and it did! Always great and knowledgeable staff, quick delivery and easy returns which is very appreciated. Will likely purchase the Breas Z2 for my next trip!

Just used my Z2 Auto for the first time on a business trip. It's easy to use, not too noisy, and I like it much more than by Philips Respironics machine that I have at home. Good product!

Subject: The NiteLog app can lose data if you change timezones!
The Z2 is a "travel" APAP, but when you travel and decide to check your compliance data, the app asks if you want to change the device timezone to match where you are currently located. You say to yourself, "Sure! I should do that".
Well, ..just don't!
If you do change time zone, then all the compliance data history on your iOS device app gets wiped and starts over as Day 1 for the new timezone. If your job requires compliance data reports then you're going to show a hole in the data when you travel and make the mistake of changing timezones. This is weird bug for a "travel" unit.
Otherwise, I find the unit to be very effective, lightweight, quiet, and comfortable to use. Without the software bug I'd rate it a 5

Subject: Z2 Auto CPAP
I was excited to have a travel APAP machine that would be easier to transport than my Philip's Dream Station. That was until I actually used it! I assembled it properly and my nasal mask was snug, but even if I managed to fall asleep, I would wake up after an hour or so and be unable to go back to sleep because of the noise level. I tried to use it 3 nights in a row without any success. It never occurred to me that this would be an issue and it would be nice if the company could make some kind of modification to alleviate the problem.

Hi Laura,
We're sorry to hear this! Travel units are louder than home units because there is less room for sound abatement insulation.
Have you tried using the Q-lite in-line muffler that comes with the Z2? It will help reduce the noise. This is how you connect the muffler:
machine --> tube adapter --> 8" tube --> muffler --> 4 ft tube --> HME (if using)--> mask
