Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask by Fisher & Paykel

When choosing a CPAP mask, you need to consider not just the comfort and fit but also its ease of use and your specific needs.

That’s why Fisher & Paykel thought of including two headgear options with the Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow Mask. Both headgear options, plus the nasal pillow cushions, come in one size, making it easy to start therapy.

For an easier fit, use the Stretchwise Headgear. It’s made up of only one elastic strap that goes around the head and automatically adapts to your facial contours.

Prefer a more customized fit? The Adjustable Headgear consists of three adjustment points: one on the crown of the head and two on the sides of the face.

The F&P Pilairo Q also offers a secure seal and quiet operation. Featuring the AirPillow Seal, the nasal pillow cushion inflates with pressure from your CPAP machine and creates a double seal in and around the nose.

The mask also comes with the easy-to-maintain Q Cover, which gently directs airflow away from you and your bed partner.

Prescription Required

Weekly cleaning: headgear
Daily cleaning: cushion, frame, short tubing, elbow, swivel
Every 2 to 3 months: replace diffuser

  1. Disassemble the mask.
  2. Soak all parts in warm water with mild soap for up to ten minutes.
  3. Rinse each part thoroughly under running water, squeezing out excess water from the headgear.
  4. Air dry all parts away from direct sunlight.
The diffuser is not washable and should be replaced every 2 to 3 months or when the mask becomes noisy.

  1. Gently pull the mask away from your face and then release it, allowing the tips of the nasal pillows to inflate and settle comfortably inside your nose.
  2. Check your cushion to make sure the two nasal pillow openings are not inverted into the cushion.
  3. Make sure to clean both your mask cushion and your face, as facial oils can interfere with the seal.
  4. Ensure you're wearing your Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow Mask according to the fitting instructions in the user guide. The way you put on the mask significantly impacts the seal.
  5. Adjust your headgear as necessary.
  6. Try a larger or smaller cushion size.
  7. Replace any worn out mask parts.

If your CPAP mask still leaks after following all those troubleshooting steps, a different mask style may be a better option. Feel free to contact RespShop for assistance in choosing a different mask.
To maintain the best fit and seal for your CPAP therapy, we recommend replacing the entire mask, including the headgear and frame, every 6 months.

The silicone cushion, however, may need to be replaced more frequently, typically every 2 to 3 months. Silicone naturally softens over time, which can affect its ability to create a good seal.

I used the old Pilairo for a few years and it worked fine. It started showing some aging though and I figured I would just start anew instead of having to replace every component eventually. Decided to stick with FP and try the new Pilairo, especially since I saw other positive reviews from old Pialiro users. Well I’ve had this for a few weeks now and I’m inclined to agree, it’s a great upgrade/progeny of the original.

The hybrid pillow/cushion of the old Pilairo was great and the new one continues that trend. It disitributes the pressure well so it feels light and comfortable. Also really quiet, substantial improvement from the old version in that regard. It uses a little diffuser filter to do that. They do seem like they should be replaced intermittently however, but you can also just choose to do without them. Like the old Pilairo, the cushion is one singular size and inflates around your nose when you turn on the air. I’m on the bigger size but I find that it fits excellently, so I think the one size fits all thing might actually hold up.

Also the headgear is comfortable. Not a huge improvement in this area but that’s because the old Pilairo was already really comfortable. It’s light and fits well, plus the package comes with two frame types. One of them you just adjust like normal, the other stretches itself. I use the normal adjustable one and it’s good.

Subject: Better than the old one. Definitely worth upgrading.
I used to use the old version of this but I can say with confidence that this one's better if you're looking to upgrade. The old one used to blow a lot of cold air onto my wife, which she hated. Glad I'm not having that problem anymore after getting this new version.
F&P really outdid themselves because they knew exactly what to fix. The comfort of this mask is just like my old mask. Also, it's very quiet too. Not to mention easy to clean and reliable as always. My old mask lasted me about 10 years. I think this one will be sticking with me for just as long. The frame is sturdy even though it's light.

I’ve been around the block, used nasal pillows, nasal cushions, and full face cushions. Pillows have been the most comfortable for me and I’ve been using a pillow mask for the past year, but I had some issues with slippage. As such I wanted to look for something that had the basic design of a pillow but with a little extra support to hold on. The Plairo fit that bill and it’s definitely lived up to my lofty expectations.

What’s so good about it? Well for one, it’s comfortable. Doesn’t feel heavy at all and cradles my noggin well, which is what I ask of a mask. But the real star of the show is the cushion. Instead of being your standard bar with two prongs that normal pillows are, this mask has a kind of winged frame around it that grips your nose. It really does hold on well and I haven’t had the slipping issues I had with my old pillow. Interestingly, there’s no sizing for the pillow as it’s supposedly one size fits all. I didn’t have any issues with the sizing but I can’t speak for other people, so that might be something to watch out for. The seal of the cushion is to par too, no problems with leaks. Very good mask, I think any nasal cushion or nasal pillows users will enjoy and feel familiar with the design.

Good soft nasal pillow with air blowing in causing it to inflate, providing a good sealing. Like it compared to my previous hard nasal pillow.

This is the best mask I’ve ever used. It is adjustable on top and sides with Velcro straps, small adjustments are easy. Accommodates anyone. The air supply pivots so you are not fighting to find a good position for the hose.

Delivered to Australia in days so that has to be good service.

The inflatable pillow typically only lasts several months but try it with a dab of silicone as this will extend the life to at least 12 months.

Otherwise, it's a great nasal mask.

I started with a full nose mask by Fisher and Paykel. Loved the mask as it had the filters and was very quiet. Hated the head gear that came with it. It was clumbersome and not easy to put on or take off.
I then found the Pilairo Q nasel pillow. It was fitted with the filter and I knew it would be quiet like my old mask. It came with the 2 types of head gear which I also liked to put on and take off easily.
Once I got it I knew I did the right thing. Haven't looked back since. It's very comfotable easy to clean and put on and take off. Its not intrusive and doesnt leak. Best purchase ever.

A great mask.
Have used for 5 months continuously and no sign of cracking or collapse.
Have needed to use the double strap to achieve comfortable rollover sleep.
Just wash with fingers ,hand wash and warm water (the nasal pillow only,) and blot on towel
A fantastic mask.

Having used a Swift FX nasal mask for several years as the "best fit for me" solution at the time, I decided to have a try of the new Pilairo Q and WHAT a difference it has made to my sleep!! The fit is almost leak proof and I don NOT wake up when rolling over with this mask! With the other, I was constantly waking to refit the mask and stop the leakages with every turn, NOT ANY MORE!! Aside from the slight pressure on the tip of my nose, which I am becoming more used to each night, the feel of the snugness when the surrounding nasal pillow inflates and firmly but gently seals the air passage and at the same time, causes the nasal tips to position themselves in my nostrils, but they are so soft, I hardly notice any, but slight intrusion into the nasal passages. A BRILLIANT design! One mask that is almost perfect and that is from someone who has a script for 18psi! I have never dreamt so vividly and now feel twice as energetic during the day! Well done Fisher & Paykel! And for you who maybe thinking of changing over, don't hesitate! Sleep well everyone! Regards, Ray

The Good:
-Quiet and doesn't blow tons of air on my boyfriend as we're sleeping. He's complained about this for every other mask I've tried in the past.
-Took about a week to get used to the mask, but it fits very well and feels very comfortable now.
-Easy to put on
-I haven't experienced leaks because of the inflation around the nose piece
-Mask arrived quickly and in perfect condition

The Bad:
-The week it took me to get used to the mask was uncomfortable. I used vaseline to prevent my nose from getting too irritated, but it still hurt.
-The silicone piece where your nose fits is a little flimsy. Without being careful, I'm worried I will tear it accidentally.

Subject: Wish it was comfortable from the beginning, but definitely a good mask overall
First off I want to say Respshop is a great company. I've ordered a lot from Respshop and every single time I have any problems, the customer service is always very nice and helpful.
Anyway, I've tried a lot of masks (nasal, nasal pillow, full face, hybrid, total face) and this one is pretty good!! For starters, it's been about 3 months since I started using this and I think it really fits me well now When I breathe, I can feel it "breathing" with me. Breathing with this mask on feels very natural. It's also definitely one of, if not THE most quiet mask I've tried.
The only problem is that when I first started to use this mask, I had some problems with the fit. For about a week, I had very bad problems with a sore (sometimes bloody) nose in the morning. After a week of trying it I just couldn't handle it anymore so I switched back to my old mask for a bit and then alternated between my masks for a while. Eventually, I started using this one more and more (Vaseline does wonders!) and now it fits me perfectly well with no pain in the morning. I'm VERY glad this fixed itself over time but if you plan on getting this mask, it's best to keep in mind that it might not be comfortable from the get-go.

I have been using one of your full face mask and decided to try this Pilario Q CPAP nasal pillow mask and I can't complain. It made my sleep so much better. Very easy to care for just wash it with warm water and soap then your good to go. Very quiet air flow and even I tend to moved a lot at night never had a leakage thanks to the swivel on the tube. Very satisfied!!!!!

I also have the Pilairo Nasal Pillow this Pilairo Q Mask is much quiter with the little filter over the air holes really quietens the mask even further. The Strap provided is better than the small thin one (which you get as well) this one lasts longer but i still purchased two spare one's, can afford to at Respshop prices compared to Australia.

I bought my cpap nasal pillow about a year ago and it has been sitting in my night table for about 9 months now . the mask itself is great but the strap it was a total wast of money as the clip broke almost immediately and my husband had to drill a hole in it and fashion something so i could wear it ,then very shortly after the strap was so stretched it was useless not happy and as much as I loved it I would not likely get another one, nor would I bother getting the replacement. strap is the pits

This was comfortable for the first 9 nights of use. Then the extremely thin nasal covering ripped and became worthless. The $25 replacement cost is outrageous! Now I have to decide if I want to keep replacing it or pay for a more expensive mask and hope it lasts longer than nine days. NOT HAPPY

Hi Lois,

I'm very sorry to hear that the mask broke on you. We do have a 90 day warranty for these masks so please, don't hesitate to contact us via email or on the phone (sales@respshop.com - 1-866-936-3754) and we can get this sorted out for you!

I really don't understand how anybody can tell that this mask is comfortable. Nose tip and nostrils begin to hurt after 20 minutes of using this mask. I am forcing myself to sleep with the mask, but I awake every hour because of the pain. I gave it 5 night try, and not going to use it anymore. Totally waste of money for me.

Ilya, I am so sorry that mask did not work for you! Please return that mask to us so we can get you one that fits better.
