Why Do You Need a Heated Tube?

Heated CPAP tubing serves one primary purpose: preventing moisture buildup in the tube. The heated and humidified air from your CPAP machine cools as it travels from the machine to your face, leading to condensation buildup that, in extreme cases, result in water sloshing around in your hose and mask.
If there is a draft nearby (e.g., you sleep with a fan on or near the window), or if you sleep with the AC on, the odds of this happening is even greater.
Condensation in your CPAP tubing is a problem as air flowing past the water droplets can create loud popping sounds that disrupt your sleep. Excess condensation or rainout can result in water splashing onto your face or even into your nose!
Using a heated hose solves these problems because the heated hose helps maintain a constant temperature throughout your CPAP circuit. This temperature control insulates the air inside the tubing from the cooler temperature in its surroundings.
As an added bonus, you can even adjust the temperature in the heated hose for your comfort, making this a great upgrade to the standard hose!
- Connect one end of the Luna G3 Heated Tube to the air outlet on the back of your Luna G3 device.
- Locate the heated tubing port to the right of the air outlet and plug in the power plug that is part of the Luna G3 Heated Tube.
- If the heated tubing is correctly inserted, you will see a number appear next to the heated tubing icon located on the top left hand corner of the screen. This number represents the current temperature setting of the heated tubing.
- Connect the other end of the Luna G3 Heated Tubing to your CPAP mask.

I have used CPAP therapy for a few years now. My prescribed pressures are spot on and I am optimally treated with a AHI less than 5. I use the Eson 2 nasal mask and I simply love it! It is comfortable and quiet and never leaks. I will use the Eson 2 for life. I now have the same daytime energy I used to have before I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. My health is the best it has been in years. Basically, CPAP therapy has been both easy and effective for me. The only issue I have is with the humidification and heated tube combo. Sometimes I need to increase my humidity level and it causes rainout in my standard tube. And sometimes I cannot stand the idea of breathing in warm air from my heated tube. And, honestly, often I am too lazy to go find the other tube and switch it out! My new Luna 3G Cpap’s tubing design has saved me from my laziness and issues with temperature. The tubing for the Luna works as both a heated tube or a standard tube! I just have to 'unplug' it when I have a moment of temperature intolerance. Perfect!
