Stratus 5 Stationary Oxygen Concentrator - 5 liters per minute
The Stratus 5 oxygen concentrator from 3B Medical provides continuous medical grade supplemental oxygen at rates from 0.5–5 LPM. The Stratus 5 uses a molecular sieve and pressure swing adsorption process to collect oxygen from the room and deliver it to the home care user.
The Stratus 5 is narrower, lighter, and quieter than many home oxygen concentrators. Front-mounted controls, connections, and a bright LCD screen make the Stratus 5 safe and simple to operate. 360-degree swivel wheels allow anyone to easily move the machine from space to space in the home, even when traversing carpet.

Oxygen delivery at home without tanks
The Stratus 5 entrains air from the room, isolates the oxygen from the air and delivers the oxygen to the user. The Stratus 5 can deliver supplemental oxygen in the range of 0.5 to 5 LPM at a concentration of 93% (+/- 5%). A rear mount holds a humidifier water bottle to support more comfortable oxygen therapy. The Stratus 5 can be run 24 hours a day if needed and does not require oxygen tanks or a compressed gas source. An AC power source is required.
Front-mounted controls
A large on/off button sits on the front of the Stratus 5 concentrator, so no one needs to fumble around the sides or back looking for the power button. The flow meter is also positioned on the front panel, making it easy to see and adjust at any time. The oxygen tubing to the user connects to the front of the Stratus 5 as well so everyone can readily visually verify that it is firmly in place and functioning. A bright LCD screen sits in the center of the front panel, confirming normal operations with a green light. For further peace of mind, the Stratus 5 alerts you if the oxygen output concentration drops significantly.
Easy to maintain
Setting up and maintaining the Stratus 5 could not be easier. The machine has 360 swivel wheels and can be toted with ease anywhere in the home the user wishes to go. The Stratus 5 can be placed anywhere there is AC power. Rinsing and drying the air intake filter weekly is the only maintenance required. A damp sponge is all that is needed to wipe down the exterior of the Stratus 5.
Reviewer's Tip
Lightweight, quiet, easy to use, and easy to move, the Stratus 5 is an excellent choice for any home oxygen user who wants to save the tanks for trips outside the house. Just as importantly, the Stratus 5 has some nice safety features as well. A low oxygen alert lets the user know that something has interfered with the percent of delivered oxygen. The humidifier mounts in the back, so it is out of the way and less likely to get knocked off. The oxygen tubing port and flow meter are smack in the front of the machine, letting the user and everyone with them ensure that flow is on and connected.
With any concentrator, it is essential to position it carefully to avoid any of the air intake ports from being blocked, maximize its efficiency, and avoid overheating.
The Stratus 5 even comes with a three year warranty which is longer than that of some competing products.

FAQ
How do I clean the Stratus 5?
The spongy air intake filter should be cleaned weekly. If you have indoor animals, consider cleaning it more frequently (every 3-4 days). Remove the air intake filter from the side of the concentrator. Wash it in clean water and allow it to air dry. Owning a spare air intake filter is a good idea if the concentrator is in frequent use. Do not use the concentrator without an air intake filter in place.
The HEPA filter located in the rear compartment does not require routine maintenance and should only be changed by an authorized provider.
The exterior of the machine can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
Can I run the concentrator with an external battery?
The Stratus 5 requires AC power at 110V and should not be run on an external battery. In the case of a power failure, you should transition the user to oxygen cylinders.
How do I know the concentrator is working correctly?
To verify that the concentrator is working, make sure the indicator lights on the LCD screen are on. The ball on the flow meter should be visible at the set level. You should feel flow coming out of the oxygen tubing. If you have a humidifier in use on the rear of the machine, you should see bubbles in it.
If the user feels unwell, check the user’s oxygen levels with a pulse oximeter. Your provider can tell you what a normal number is for the oxygen user. If the user is having signs of low oxygen levels (unexpected shortness of breath, confusion, blue-tinged lips) and you have verified flow, you should call your provider or 911, depending on the circumstances.
