I was looking for a cheap nasal pillow mask and the Opus seemed both very interesting and well-reviewed. Ended up buying it and have been using it for a few weeks now, and I’m very happy with it. I’ll review the relevant components and what I like about them.
Cushion: I haven’t used any FP masks before so I was a little cautious about how the cushion would feel. Well after trying it, I can quell all doubts. It sits up against the lip for some extra support but it doesn’t cause any kind of discomfort. The actual nasal part fits well and I didn’t feel any kind of air leaking out. It’s also comfortable and I don’t wake up with any kind of irritation on my lips or my nose. Three sizes come in the package so I was able to find the size I liked the most.
Headgear: It’s a simple headgear design but I like it. They’re nice and breathable cloth which help spread out the weight. The adjustment straps are durable and easy to use so I found the right size without any problems. It’s also easy to take off in the nights/mornings so I don’t have to fuss around for an hour in the morning.
Other: One of the things that really drew me to this mask was the design that lets you clip the hose to the top of your head. I’ve always been bothered when the hose would go to the side and tangle up with my arm, so this seemed like a great solution. It lets me sleep on my back or sides without issue and I can keep the hose completely free from my body. Absolutely love this feature and I don’t think I can go back to a mask without this kind of design.
I’ve been using various other masks for many years now, but I always had some annoyances with the hose draping over my body. This led me to look for a cheap nasal pillow mask that would solve that issue in some other way. I considered options like the DreamWear or P30i, but they were pricey and more complex than I wanted. I saw this mask instead and decided to give it a shot after seeing the glowing reviews. So far the mask has been fantastic.
The greatest part is that the tube goes up your face and clips onto the top of your head. What this means is that your hose runs up and away from your body, keeping it off of you entirely. I was someone who was always bothered by the hose and this has solved that problem for me, which is tremendous. As such, the mask is good with all sleeping styles. Lying on your side or on your back, the hose is kept away from you all the same. It’s really helped me get some better sleep during restless nights, and I feel more refreshed in the mornings now.
Overall the mask is very light. Simple, supple strap system that’s easy to figure out and get on and off. The cushions are very comfortable, and seal up well. Package came with three so I was able to experiment with all the sizes to find my best fit. Medium was good for me but ymmv. I’ve been consistently getting good sleep with this mask and it’s quickly become my favorite. You could say this is Fisher & Paykel’s magnum opus.
I am 63 years and live in Louisiana and I have been using the Puritan Bennett nasal pillow mask because I liked the design of that mask. I has the short tube hose that attaches to the top of your head and there isnt any cheek side straps and it was just the most comfortable thing I have ever used. Unfortunately Puritan Bennett has been discontinued which broke my heart. I came across this mask hoping it worked the same and it sorta does. The only thing I dont like about this mask is the side straps.
Tube over the head which is eactly what I need! They dont make the old mask I used for years anymore so the customer service pointed me in the direction of this mask that has the tube over the head as did the old one. So far so good, works pretty well, no big leaks, and the cushions are comfortable enough. If I had been using it for 6 years or more like my old one I might like it even more. 4 stars for now, but probably 5 in a few weeks.
Different design, I started out with a air start nasal pillow, you rebreath a lot of air with this design. It sort of blows you up inside, with this one you get fresh air with every breath. Your exhale blows out the holes. Only thing I've noticed with my APAP is the pressure keeps increasing because of the venting holes. Not sure if that's ok? It is way more comfortable for me breathing fresh air with every breath.
I have regularly used the Opus 360 Nasal Pillow mask for several years now and find it very comfortable to wear and easy to use. There's no problems putting the mask on at night, not like other masks. Once you have the fitting comfortably adjusted for yourself there are no adjustments to make on subsequent uses
Best nasal mask I've owned. I tried for 2 years to get a mask that would fit and get me through the night. I kept taking other masks off halfway through. Since I got this mask, with the tube on top and more straps to keep it in place, I have found the right mask! I never take it off.
It looks kinda weird, but I actually like the design. I hate having the tube dangle from my face, it makes it really hard to fall asleep on my side. The Opus makes sleeping on my side easy though. Nothing's moving around and I don't even notice where I blow air.
Mask is comfortable and includes 3 nasal sizes to fit anyone. The straps are soft and adjustable. The only drawback is the plastic braces that rest against your cheeks. The braces are flexible but cause me to sweat.
Subject: Weird but good!
Mask looks really weird on first impression, but it's actually great. Fits well, comfortable, and keeps the hose from draping over your body. Great price too, I've definitely found the mask for me.
USPS Priority and Priority Express are more expensive, about $60 and $80 for such a package, respectively.
