DreamWear Nasal Mask (with upgraded headgear) - Philips Respironics
The DreamWear Nasal Mask by Philips Respironics breaks the mold on CPAP mask design, placing the tube on top of the head and the cushion just below the nose. The result of all this innovation is a very comfortable and minimalist mask construction. If you have sleep apnea and have been prescribed nasal CPAP or if you have been struggling to find a mask that works for you, check out the DreamWear line of unique CPAP masks!
The DreamWear nasal mask has a simple, elegant construction. The DreamWear nasal cushion cradles the nose from beneath. The cushion seals both nostrils without covering the entire nose or pressing anything against the forehead. As a result, irritation and discomfort at the center of the face vanish.
The under the nose cushion leaves you with an open line of sight. Reading a book or watching TV before bed is now a breeze. This forward thinking mask is truly a win-win.
Finding a mask for CPAP therapy that fits just right is often a daunting task. The DreamWear frame comes in small, medium, and large. The DreamWear nasal cushion is available in small, medium, medium-wide, and large. With so many sizing options available, almost certainly there is a size combination perfect for you.
Innovative DreamWear Frame
The DreamWear frame is a smooth, silicone tube. Air flows through the frame and into the DreamWear cushion. The frame accommodates any sleeper, achieving the perfect seal while maintaining sufficient airflow throughout the night. You do not have to worry about favoring one side or the other. Airflow through the frame and cushion is not compromised regardless of what side you lay on.
Worried about skin irritation or mask marks on your face? The included fabric wraps take your worry away. The fabric wraps come with the DreamWear Fit Pack and can also be purchased separately. You will want to keep a set of these on hand because they are so gentle on your cheeks.
- Top of head CPAP connection ensures easy movement
- Unobstructed vision
- Elegant, simplistic design
- Innovative, hollow frame
- Nasal cradle cushion
- Multiple size configurations, including a Fit Pack option
- Upgraded headgear with arm: less movement
How should I clean my DreamWear?
It is quite simple to clean the DreamWear and just like any other mask it should be cleaned daily. By using warm water and mild soap, you will prolong the overall lifespan of all parts of the mask. Avoid antibacterial and scented soaps. Rinse all parts well and allow time for air drying. Add the headgear in with the other mask parts once a week and allow it to air dry. Do not dry the headgear or any of the DreamWear parts in a clothes dryer.
How do I locate my size on my current DreamWear mask?
The cushion size can be found on the front of the cushion next to the arrow where it plugs into the frame. The cushion comes in small, medium, medium-wide, and large. The frame size is stamped near its connection to the swiveling elbow. The frame is available in small, medium, and large.
Does this mask come with a short tube?
No. The mask comes with an elbow but no short tube. Since your CPAP circuit connects overhead, the tubing does not apply downward drag on the mask, so a short tube extension is not needed.
What is the size of the frame included in the Fit Pack?
The Fit Pack includes a medium-sized frame. The medium frame fits post people. Small and large frames are available for purchase separately.
Recommended If You Have Facial Hair
If you are still shopping and looking for additional guidance on masks to consider, read on!
We all have unique facial structures and RespShop stocks a large variety of masks for CPAP so that everyone can find something that works best for them. Facial hair simply adds another wrinkle to the search for the mask that is your ticket to better sleep.
Traditionally shaped triangular nasal masks that sit on the bridge of the nose and anchor on the lower lip might cause hiccups with the fit, but hybrid nasal masks that rest under the nose superbly fit many with facial hair. The DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask uses an under the nose cushion that rests high on the upper lip. This mask also features a frame and headgear that outlines the periphery of facial hair for many people.
When shopping for a CPAP mask to wear with facial hair, don’t fall into the trap of sizing up. Use size guides and select the size that fits your facial structure. Over sizing results in leaks, frustration, and discomfort.

I love using the nasal pillow as opposed to the face mask, and the tubing on top of my head is very light and comfortable, it doesn’t get in the way of my movements. I see a lot of people saying if only their mouth didn’t relax to open in their sleep they would prefer it more. Well my Cpap center includes a thin chin strap with mine, and it keeps my mouth closed while sleeping, perfect solution to me.
Got mine yesterday and used it last night. What a difference. Slept soundly with no air leaks or issues. Felt like I didn’t even have a mask on. Some reviews said that the tubing atop the head was heavy - not my experience at all. Thank you!
This was a new mask; I was trying to use one similar to my last sleep study. The fit is amazing! Overall, my breathing has been more consistent. If I had one complaint, it would be that my nose is still 'scarring' from the pressure point. It's getting better, but I would have preferred to not have to deal with that. I suppose that's the price of trying something different than I'd used for the last 14 years.
Will probably get this style again when it becomes necessary.
This mask is a game changer! Comfortable fit and perfect under the nose without being in or over the nose. Thx
Have tried many masks. Still trying to find the ideal one. I like that the tubing is at the top. leaks a bit when I turn sideways.
Takes some time to get on and off. Does it's job but feels like there is to much weight on my head.
Excellent product fast delivery I live in Thailand and received my item 8 days after order and that was via US standard mail
On of the best mask the only big problem for me is that the tube is on the head which is not comfortable and heavy on my head sometimes gives me headache. Also it gets in the way when I am sleeping. I really which the tube was connected from down rather than up it would have been perfect.
This mask is great. Used a nasal pillow for last three years but discovered my mouth opens as my jaw relaxes during sleep so needed to switch to a full-face mask which was not something I looked forward to as any previously tried were big, bulky, hard and uncomfortable. The Dreamwear Nasal Mask is just as comfortable as the nasal pillow was and my apnea occurrences are way down. Plus, having the air hose attach at the top is really nice. I tend to move in my sleep and no longer get the air hose wrapped up in blankets.
My suggestion to first time users would be to order the option with all four sizes of pillows and try them all until you get the fit perfect for you. I measure medium but find that the large fits my facial bone structure best.
I use my cpap every night and am very pleased with the sleep I am getting while using this mask.
Excellent seal and a very comfortable mask. I still struggle a bit because I tend to be a mouth breather but that is not the fault of the mask. In my opinion, this is the best nasal mask on the market today.
I like this mask. It stays on my head and is relatively comfortable as far as masks go. It is very lightweight. You need to make sure that you have it properly adjusted to fit your head because it is so light it can come right off and you don't even realize it.
Easy to set up and light weight, very pleased with this set up.....
History: started with the "pig nose" sort of mask, which can be difficult if you have facial hair. Used the Nuance Pro Respironics for several years, but it started to irritate my nostrils. So... gave this one a try.
Wasn't sure I was going to like having the hose attached, top of head rather than to the front of the mask. Ha. Probably my favorite thing about this new mask. No problem. I haven't noticed the hose at all since using this mask.
As for the rest, well on the good side, the thing is ridiculously comfortable and the straps don't dig into my face. When it's on right, I barely feel it present at all. Middle of the road, it sounds louder to my own ears (but my wife does not notice a difference in that way). Not too big a problem, though. White noise, kind of pleasant. My only complaint is, I have more trouble keeping this guy seated properly when on my side. Only using it a few weeks now so perhaps I'll find the magic combination to make that work better. Having my face toward the edge of the pillow helps.
I would give it 5/5 except for that one tweak.
This new mask is life changing. I have not been woken up by air leaks, noise, skin irratation, it doesn't leave marks on my face. I can watch TV or read without the mask in the way. I can get up and use the bathroom with the quick disconnect.
My wife woke me up slightly panicked, because she hard no air leaking while I was quietly sleeping, she has never heard that.
I have a commerical drivers license so my therapy is mandated. I would recommend this mask to anyone.
Best invention thus far. If frame slips off of your hair, try wearing a thin cap over part of your hair where the frame is located. The other masks I could hardly wait to get them off. This mask I forget I have it on.
While this is the most comfortable mask to wear and sleep in, if you have hair it won't stay on when you sleep. I wake up many time throughout the night. I constantly wakeup and have to put the mask back on. Does not promote a good night's sleep. They really need to have a different frame for people with hair. My husband used this same frame for years with no problems until he decided to grow his hair out. Now he has the same problem as I do.
**Rebeccah, Philips has just come out with a NEW Headgear for those with this issue! Check out the new DreamWear headgear. You will see that it rides much lower on the head. Model Number 1116751.
I personally love the new headgear
It is a new style that im trying out. It is different from what ive been wearing but so far It seems to be good.
With the face mask I was always getting poor seal, dry mouth and tongue and a lower CPAP monitoring score 60 to 80%. The first night with the nasal mask I noticed a drastic improvement. Better seal, no dry mouth or tongue. And CPAP score went up to between 90 to 100%. Now I want to use my CPAP instead of dreading the thought of another night of discomfort and dry mouth.
One thing I forgot to mention in my previous review: When you get up in the middle of the night, you have to remove the entire mask. There is no quick way to disconnect the mask from the hose. If you want to keep the mask on for your bathroom break, you have to pull the hose out of its connection to the mask frame. Other systems I've tried have an easy disconnect at that hose connection place. I find this to be a not insignificant detriment of this system. The head gear requires special placement of the hair, to avoid a matted look in the morning. Having to redo this placement after each bathroom break is a nuisance, especially in a sleepy condition! I've subtracted a point for this.
Nasal pillows irritate my sinuses, so I prefer the cushion. That said, I am a side sleeper, and the pillow I lie on tends to push the cushion under my nose out of place. Unfortunately, the head gear is too little to assist keeping it in place. I end up bracing my hand against the mask all night or placing a second pillow against the cushion, to keep it in place while on my side. Nevertheless, my machine always registers that I have a leak. I've ignored that warning, since this mask is more comfortable than any other I've had over the last 20 years of CPAP wear. Only wish there were an optional strap or spongy seal around the cushion, to keep it in place when sleeping on a pillow on the side of one's face.
I have used the nasal pillow front of face masks for 2 years. I hated it, it was uncomfortable and constantly woke me up needing to be adjusted or slipping off my face. This mask has changed my daily usage time from 5 hours to 7.5 hours. I only wake up 2-3 times per night. I also have far less irritation on my nose. I'll definitely order again.
I have been using this exact setup (Large Frame, Medium Nose Cushion) for two years and find it very comfortable, easy to maintain, and when purchased in the KIT 1116691 very affordable. Getting the kit with your sized headgear and nose cushion is the least expensive way to order it. And you get everything that you need except the Hose (or Heated Nose), and the water reservoir. This site carries these kits for a price LOWER than my insurance deductible !!! Going to place my next order here!
Not very happy with it. Because the hose attaches on top of my head it is difficult to hook up, with catches in my hair and clashes with the headboard of my bed. Also, it takes some fiddling get it to sit properly under my nose. Even then it sometimes shifts during the night. The small amount of air leakage that is ‘normal’ can be irksome blowing on my face. To clean it requires pulling the headgear straps out through openings in the mask assembly and I wonder how many times it will last before it rips. I’m going get the Pilairo again and return this one. The problem is that I won’t get a refund OR a retroactive store credit BEFORE I can change it.
La envoltura de tela protectora de la masara viene incluida con ella? o el pago es aparte
This mask was a disappointment, the soft nasal part collapses, and headgear doesn't fit well, maybe just too big, but nothing seemed to fit me. I've used nasal masks, full face masks, and another nasal mask, which hurt my nose trying to get it tight enough not to leak. I had leaks with this mask, couldn't get it tight enough and with the soft nasal part collapsing, not a good night sleep. Wouldn't recommend it.
It is leaking when you turns either side, will produce marks on a face, also, disappointed without a easy dis-connected fiture. Over all, did-Appointment!
Charles, we are sorry that happened. We have sent you a different cushion and fabric wraps that should help the problem.
Have been using this mask for a while, the tube at the top of the head is the real attraction for me. It makes turning in bed so easy plus the vent at top of head keeps air out of my eyes. No bulky hard plastic on my face, very nice and soft mask. Will definitely repurchase!
I am very pleased with the DreamWear mask overall. This is really the first mask I have used other than the mask I wore the night of the testing at the sleep center. The mask at the center was a full face mask and the the MOST uncomfortable thing I have ever worn. This mask is very light and comfortable.I have even worn it watching TV at bedtime and forget I even have it on. I did not give it a 5 rating because it does tend to come off easily while sleeping - that being said I am a very restless sleeper so that may be more my problem than the mask.
I am very pleased with the DreamWear I recently purchchased.
This mask is a "Dream" come true!! It fits like a dream, performs like a dream, has no downside to
it, and does not feel like you have a anesthesia mask on your face!!!
It has save me from not wanting to wear what I need to get the THERAPY I need. Try it, your will love it,
Terrific fit. Excellent for back sleepers! Perfect for reading and TV
The cartilage between the nostrils was damaged when I was young. took a few days for nose to adjust to the pressure of the cushion. Now that I have gotten used to the nasal pressure I am really liking it. I sleep on my side and back. Not having any problems of leakage after I got headgear adjusted properly. At last something not rubbing on nose bridge
The best mask around. No contest. You can sleep comfortably in any position. Almost like you're not wearing a mask. My second one!
This mask is very comfortable. It seems to seal very well. I have used it for a week. There is no irritation.
The product description LIES. It contains the following statement: Dreamwear headgear are considered to be one in the same and are available in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large however as with most mask on the market a majority of users will find that the Medium size fits perfectly.
The HEADGEAR ONLY COMES IN ONE SIZE!!! If you click on the link (Dreamwear headgeat) in the above statement it says this on the order page:
This Headgear/Head-Strap is only available in one size. The compatibility of this will only be limited to the DreamWear and cannot work with other mask on the CPAP market.
The mask/cushion is excellent and very comfortable. The air delivery is ingenious and especially great for side-sleepers. But, the headgear (only 1 size remember) does not meet the efficiency of the mask/tubing. It slips up the back of the head, thus moving the mask and causing air leakage. There needs to be an additional anchor point that goes UNDER the ear and secures the mask/tubing in place throughout the night.
Love the Dreamware mask but would like it with nose pillows instead of
The nose cushion.
super comfortable but can be a bit noisy depending of your cpap
The most comfortable mask out there!
Only problem is that is a bit noisy, its kind of like white noise though. He other thind is im not so sure that it gives the proper seal.
Up until now I used a Nuance pillow mask and liked it. I tried the DreamWear mask and liked it even more. It is very comfortable and works well sleeping in most any position. I like that the hose attaches on the top and is out of the way. I also find that there is no irritation on my nose or nostrils at all. I have used it now for a couple of weeks and I'm very impressed. I highly recommend it.
just arived used it and it works great would recomend it to any one hose locating is great
My husband was having trouble with more traditional masks rubbing the bridge of his nose. This has proved to solve the problem and lets him breath well.
Very comfortable.Just fits perfect. Have been using it for the past one month. No signs of any air leak. As the tube connector is on the head, turning around on the bed becomes very easy. Cleaning the mask too is easy. Just detach the nose piece, wash it in luke warm water, air dry and you are done. Highly recommended.
I have tried many other masks and so far DreamWear is the most comfortable with hardly no air leak. I am finally able to have long, uninterrupted sleeps. As a result I wake up rested and stay alert through out the day.
With DreamWear mask, it is possible to sleep on your side.
Nose piece (cushion) is amazingly comfortable and won't leave any bruise marks. Frame can leave marks however felt frame cover attachments helps reduced marks.
Only negative is the headgear, it looses its shape and tension within a month. It needs to be longer lasting.
This mask works extremely well for me, I no longer have a to look for other options.
I use small frame and small cushion
After 9 years of detesting anything and everything related to the CPAP, I finally found a mask that works!
My prayers have been answered!
Just receive my dreamworks Nasal mask. Feels so good. Can't wait to sleep tonight. Will give another review in the morning.
it is a very confortable mask for those who are like me and move a lot during bedtime. Im still getting used to it, every musk is just a model and always has something that bothers but i would recommended this model for someone who moves a lot when asleep and for those who cant sleep with something bulky on your face.
It is very good without air leakage is the most in the mask I use until now.
This is a good idea, but even with the small tubing, my mask leaks and I don't get any rest unless I stay on my back. I have the medium head band, maybe that's all I need. Judge for yourself, it is very comfortable, but at the same time noisy.
I have a deviated septum, I have both the dreamware and Nuance Pro, because the chamber is so small both masks increase the sound of my breathing. if you leap on your back or on your side with no pillow over your head the breathing sound is relativity low. I sleep on my side with a pillow over my head. The sound travels up the tube and is loud, but if you use a microfiber blanket it will quit it down but is still very noticeable. The Dreamwear is very conferrable with a little pressure below your nose. You have to get the correct size frame(not just pillow) I have a large head and the medium frame causes the pillow to sit at the wrong angel and you get air leak. They give you a guide to find the correct size pillow. Basically the pillow needs to a little past the tip of your nose.
the Nuance Pro is about as load but, is only for a medium size head the gel pad hit high on my cheek bone and leave a mark in the morning.
I LOVE THIS MASK! I always had problems with my old mask. But this mask is the best ever invented. No leaks. No dekubitus. You don't even know, you wear a mask. Perfect for side-sleepers. I did not use my CPAP often in history because of the old mask. But now I use it every day. You should buy the Fit Pack, so you can try the perfect size. I use medium, although I should use Large (looking in the sizing frame and testing like written in the manual). But medium is better for me. So better try all sizes.
