AirFit F30i Full Face CPAP Mask by ResMed

The AirFit F30i Full Face Mask is ResMed’s full face mask entry into their line of top-of-the-head CPAP masks. With an open-faced frame design and a contoured, minimal contact facial cushion, the AirFit F30i is designed for all sleeping positions and negates claustrophobia concerns commonly associated with full face masks.

Minimal Contact
The ResMed AirFit F30i weighs very little for a full face mask and comprises of only a few components. Like the ResMed AirFit F30, the F30i features a minimalist full face cushion that covers the mouth and rests under the nose, leaving the bridge of the nose exposed. This cushion design sets the F30i apart from traditional full face masks that puts pressure on the nasal bridge. Full face mask users who struggle with tenderness on the nasal bridge will find the AirFit F30i a welcome change.

The AirFit F30i's lack of a forehead support, minimalist full face cushion design, and soft flexible frame reduce bulk on the front of the face and minimizes feelings of claustrophobia. With the AirFit F30i, full face CPAP mask users can now wear glasses, read or watch TV like their nasal mask wearing counterparts.

Designed for Active Sleepers
The F30i full face cushion is designed to deliver stable performance and a fit that endures all night long, regardless of sleeping position. ResMed's innovative InfinitySeal technology ensures a superior seal even at high CPAP pressures. This prevents blowouts that can drastically affect therapy effectiveness.

Users can feel free to sleep in any position - back, sides or stomach - with the innovative F30i full face mask. The mask's top-of-the-head tube connection reduces tubing drag that is not only uncomfortable but can also disrupt mask seal. Additionally, the 360° rotating swivel elbow gives the user a greater range of motion, allowing them to turn from side to side without creating tension along the CPAP circuit.

Simple and Intuitive Fit
Designed with comfort and simplicity in mind, the AirFit F30i Full Face Mask slips on over the head with ease. Magnetic clips help guide the headgear to the cushion, and four points of attachment on the headgear let you customize the mask for the best fit.

The quick release elbow allows users to easily disconnect and reconnect the mask from the tubing without having to remove the entire mask. Disconnecting the mask can easily done with just one hand - simply pinch the side buttons on the elbow and gently pull it away from the tubing. Reconnecting the mask to the tubing is as straightforward as aligning the elbow with the tubing connector and pushing them together until they click into place.

The ResMed AirFit F30i is an innovative full face mask that sets itself apart with its under-the-nose-cushion, top-of-the-head hose connection and open field of vision. In our ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face Mask Deep Review, we share our experience using this mask and compare it to the extremely similar DreamWear Full Face Mask.

FAQ

How does the AirFit F30i cushion work?
The AirFit F30i cushion sits under the nose and has two openings to allow airflow into the nostrils. A properly sized cushion will not occlude the nostrils. If you feel there is not enough airflow into your nose, try a larger or wider cushion size.

What sizes does the AirFit F30i come in?
The AirFit F30i comes in three sizes for the frame (Small, Standard/Medium, and Large), and four sizes for the cushion (Small, Medium, Small–Wide, and Wide).

How do I determine my AirFit F30i cushion size?
The F30i cushion size is determined by the length and width of your nose. ResMed has a fitting guide to help you select your best cushion size. Print the guide out and place it under your nose.

The outer edge of your nose should rest on the darker band in the center of each color. If the outer edge of your nose sits beyond the band, size up to the next largest cushion.

How do I determine my AirFit F30i frame size?
You can use a tape measure to help you determine your best fitting F30i frame size. Please see the AirFit F30i Frame Sizing Guide for details.

Can the AirFit F30i Full Face Mask be used with any CPAP machine?
The AirFit F30i Full Face Mask is compatible with all CPAP machines except for the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP.

How do I fit the AirFit F30i Full Face Mask?

  1. Hold the cushion over the mouth with one hand. The top part of the cushion should rest under your nose.
  2. Pull the headgear and frame over the head with your other hand.
  3. While holding the cushion in place, attach the lower headgear straps to the cushion via the magnetic clips.
  4. Adjust the upper and lower headgear straps as needed for a secure fit, making sure to avoid overtightening the mask. You should be able to slide one finger under each strap.

How do I clean the AirFit F30i Full Face Mask?
Daily: cushion
Weekly: headgear, frame, and elbow

  1. Disassemble the mask and soak all parts in warm soapy water. Please use a mild detergent free from alcohol, bleach, antibacterial agents or moisturizers.
  2. Use a soft bristle brush to remove debris at the vent holes.
  3. Rinse all parts thoroughly under running water.
  4. Air dry all parts away from direct sunlight. Squeeze the headgear to remove excess water before laying it flat to air dry.

How do I adjust the fit of the AirFit F30i Full Face Mask?

  • Adjust the top straps for leaks under the nose.
  • Adjust the bottom straps for leaks around the mouth.
  • Pull the cushion away from the nose and mouth and reseat it to improve mask seal.
  • If leaks persist despite adjusting the headgear and cushion, try a different size cushion or frame.

Note: Airflow from the vents on the front of the cushion and elbow connector is normal. Do not mistake this for a leak. Do not cover these vent ports or you risk rebreathing carbon dioxide.

Can I wear the AirFit F30i if I have facial hair?
The AirFit F30i CPAP mask provides an adequate seal with facial hair, but the thickness and distribution of your facial hair will affect the seal. Keeping your facial hair trimmed and well-groomed will improve mask seal.

This is a nice fitting mask. Doesn't make you feel smothered, although you still need a mask liner to control leaks. Also love the head gear, you can sleep in any position you like.

Subject: New mask review
The quality of the mask was very good. I appreciate that it should last.

However it is so difficult to get on and off. I got up to use restroom in the night, I dared not even try to put it back on.

Apparently the holes in the nose piece area must line up with the holes in your nose. It’s definitely not an easy trick to accomplish, especially at 2:25 am.

The “horn” as I call it. (The place where the CPAP hose connects) is located in a different place on my head each time I’ve worn it.

The bar, the part of the headpiece that comes across my forehead doesn’t stay, it moves ever so slowly up, I don’t know if it’s going to stay on or not.

The magnetic snaps are seriously too hard to find (Especially at 2am ) so you can snap the mask in place. I seem to have to adjust the straps every time I put it on.

I think the mask concept is good. But practically the mask has series user problems. Suggest designers lesson to the users a little more (ok, a lot more).

I recommend you refund my money and let me get a different mask. This mask cost me alot. I trusted Resmed brand, but I got a lemon.

Subject: Pricey but worth it
This mask is loaded with the newest features. I've found them to have improved my experience significantly over older masks, and it's made the mask more convenient and comfortable to use. I like that I can sleep on my side without issue, and that the hose connection is located away from my face. The magnets work well for me and overall I've been able to sleep very well.

Question
Would this be covered by medicare along with my supplemental insurance. I am on a bipap and other mask will not work during my sleep. Please advise,
Thanking you in advance
Answer
Hi, we do not offer direct billing. While many insurance plans cover CPAP machines and supplies, this question can be better answered by your insurance provider.
Question
My wife is new to CPAP and using an F30i mask along with a Resmed 11 machine. Her Apnea is bad so her pressure ranges from 6-18. When the pressure is high a very strong and loud stream of air comes out the front vent. Is this normal? We are having issues with her CPAP turning off due to large air leaks, though this appears to be the only leak. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank You, Dave
Answer
Hello, I would suggest calling in and speaking with our Respiratory Therapist. 1-866-936-3754 and they would be happy to help.
Question
I have a resmed f30i full face mask. Headgear size Small mask size medium. The first 10 minutes i feel wind in my eys. There is no leak round the mask. Is this problem known ?
Answer
Hi there, the feeling of wind in your eyes, could be the holes where your nostrils are, may not be sealed enough. Sometimes when the bottom two straps are tightened a little too much it can pull the top part forward causing some air to escape. You could try loosening the bottom two straps slightly, or tighten the top two straps a bit more to secure the nasal portion of the full face mask.
Question
I'm on a ResMed machine using a full face mask, but continue to have a very dry mouth which wakes me often during the night.
Answer
There are a couple of options. You may try to use a heated tube if you are not using one already or try turning up the humidity and see if that helps a little
Question
On your site, why doesn't a ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face CPAP Mask Model: 63330, 63331, 63332, ... Sale $143.10 Reg $159.00 come in a Large/Wide size choice, when a ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face CPAP Mask Frame System Model: 63355, 63356, 63357, ... $123.00, does give that choice for sizing; but you then have buy ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face CPAP Mask Headgear Model: 63372 at $33.00, separately, with no sizing choice at all? Plus the price is $156.00, rather than $143.10.
Answer
Hello, I would suggest that you contact our office and speak with a Respiratory Therapist and they would be happy to help.
Question
My Dr recommended me this mask after failing other full face masks. I need a full face mask cause I use dentures which are removed at night. This is smaller but I suffer from being claustrophobic, is there any tips you can provide me?
Answer
While awake, practice by first just holding the cushion up to your face without any of the other parts. Once you're comfortable with that, try wearing the mask with the straps.
Next, try holding the cushion up to your face with no straps on but have the hose attached to the CPAP machine at a low pressure setting (turn the ramp feature on). This will allow you to remove the mask quickly so you do not feel panicked.

Finally wear the mask with the straps and with the air pressure machine turned on while awake, have some soft music, read a book or turn on your favorite show for some distraction. After you're comfortable with that, try sleeping with it on.

If you're still feeling claustrophobic, talk to your doctor. It may help to get a different size mask or try a different style, such as one that uses nasal pillows and a chin strap.
Question
I need to know what frame size I will be, how do I determine this?
Answer
By using a measuring tape or a piece of thread to measure later. Start by measuring from one ear to the crown of the head and to the other ear (ear to ear).
Small frame (575-615mm) or 22 5/8"-243/8"
Medium Frame (619-653mm) or 24 3/8"-25 11/16"
Large Frame (654-695mm) or 25 11/6"- 27 3/8"
Question
This has been asked before but the answer was not satisfactory/. I have the the AirFit F30i Mask. At the top-of-head air tube connection supposed to leak some air (sometimes a lot)? There was a plastic ring installed when I got it but I couldn't insert the elbow hose fitting so I removed it. The elbow fits pretty loose now. Was the rind supposed to remain in the hole and if so, how does the elbow get installed? I could try to force it but I don't want to break either peice.
Answer
Hello Tim,
The air coming out from the top of the head is normal. There are tiny little holes on the elbow for your C02 to escape. This is needed so you are not retaining large amounts of C02. No ring is supposed to be removed. There should be no forcing, you would here a click in and squeeze the side to remove the hose from the elbow. Feel free to send us a photo of what your mask looks like/ how it is set up for us to further assist you. Our email is sales@respshop.com
Question
I am currently using the Resmed F30i full face mask. Unfortunately, I have just had a pace maker implanted and my doctor tells my I cannot use a mask with magnets. What magnetic free mask would you recommend?
Answer
I would recommend the Fisher & Paykel Evora Full Face mask. It is the latest style of full face masks like the F30i, comes in a fit pack - meaning all sized cushions are included and it is magnet free.
Question
How often do I need to replace the parts? I want to purchase this but my insurance does not cover this mask.
Answer
I would suggest every 3months for mask and frame. Every 6 months for headgear or just replace everytihng evey 6months as long as you are not seeing any leaks or issues.
