Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ResMed AirFit F30 and AirFit F20 full face masks?

The differences lie in the headgear and cushion.

AirFit F20: This mask features a traditional full face cushion. Shaped like a triangle, it covers your mouth and nose entirely, including the nose bridge. The headgear comes with four adjustment straps.

AirFit F30: This mask offers a more open design. The minimalist cushion covers your mouth and sits under your nose, leaving the nose bridge free. Air flows through openings at the top of the cushion directly into your nostrils. The AirFit F30 headgear features an additional adjustment strap at the top of the head, with five adjustment straps total.

What is the difference between the ResMed AirFit F40 and AirFit F30 full face masks?

The differences lie in the cushion, mask to hose connection and headgear.

Cushion: The AirFit F40 features a 100% silicone cushion, while the AirFit F30 has a silicone cushion with a plastic backing.

Mask to hose connection: The AirFit F30 mask features an elbow swivel connection while the AirFit F40 comes with a short tubing and swivel.

Headgear: The AirFit F30 has five adjustment straps, including one at the top of the head. The AirFit F40 has four straps and lacks the top crown strap.

How do I clean my AirFit F30 CPAP mask?

Weekly cleaning: headgear

Daily cleaning: frame, cushion, elbow

  1. Disassemble the mask.
  2. Soak the mask parts in warm water with mild soap. Avoid soaking for more than 10 minutes.
  3. Scrub the vent holes on the elbow with a soft bristle brush.
  4. Rinse all parts thoroughly under running water, squeezing out excess water from the headgear.
  5. Lay parts out to air dry away from direct sunlight.
How often should I replace my AirFit F30 Full Face Mask?

To maintain the best fit and seal for your CPAP therapy, we recommend replacing the entire mask, including the headgear and frame, every 6 months.

The silicone cushion, however, may need to be replaced more frequently, typically every 2 to 3 months. Silicone naturally softens over time, which can affect its ability to create a good seal.

My AirFit F30 CPAP mask is leaking. What should I do?
  1. Gently pull the mask away from your face and then release it, allowing the cushion seal to inflate and settle comfortably around your mouth and under your nose.
  2. Make sure to clean both your mask cushion and your face, as facial oils can interfere with the seal.
  3. Ensure you're wearing your AirFit F30 mask according to the fitting instructions in the user guide. The way you put on the mask significantly impacts the seal.
  4. Adjust your headgear as necessary.
  5. Try a larger or smaller cushion or headgear size.
  6. Replace any worn out mask parts.

If your CPAP mask still leaks after following all those troubleshooting steps, a different mask style may be a better option. Feel free to contact RespShop for assistance in choosing a different mask.

Customers praised this full-face CPAP mask for "100% effective action" and comfort. Many noted "no leakage" and improved scores. The under-nose design allows wearing reading glasses and reduces face marks. Some found sizing inconsistent or nostril positioning difficult. Side sleepers reported seal issues and magnetic clips detaching.

the F30 solved my face mask leakage problem!

I have been using full face masks for some time but previously used the versions that covered the mouth & fit into the bottom of the nose. My Resmed “My Air” was giving me scores of 65-80 with deductions for leaking & events. I tend to let my mouth open overnight leading extreme dry mouth and noise. Although I like the less encompassing masks I decided to try the F30 Full Face mask to get a better seal and it has worked! This mask cover the nose & I use a moth tape. The silicone mask seals much better and my “My Air” scores are now consistently in the 90’s with perfect scores for leakage.

Great product, needs a setup so hit does not keep falling down

Great product, better then other masks. Specially with cushion which is soft. Prior plastic mask would create a scars on the nose. Can be improved by having custom nose sizes or adding bit smaller and larger then current LAREGE size.

not bad for a full face but the pillows curl in

for a full face it's not bad but I have issues with the soft part of the pillow staying flat on my skin. They curl into the mask leaving lines on my cheeks and irritation

Nice Full Face Option

A nice full face option with a reduced top dimension, if enclosing your nose is not your thing. The nose seal is similar to a pillow style mask. Since I am an active sleeper, my seal was tricky to master.

Dissapointed by engineering

So I’ve tried several masks and none of them worked and to be honest I was a little gun shy but figured why not try the F30. The nose pillow part worked very well and was exactly what I was looking for, however the mask part is too narrow and too short to do the job. Evidently when I sleep hard enough my mouth opens and jaw relaxes. Go figure, I have apnea. Well when that happens my lower lip falls below the mask edge and air rushes by making things drier than a mummy’s tomb. I usually wear a large F20 and was hopeful this would be better but since the largest it comes in is a medium it is too small to do the job. Whatever resmed engineer worked on this should probably look at retraining and spend some remedial time on measuring and how things fit. All in all a fairly expensive lesson on idiot engineering.

The F30 works with readers!!

The F30 lets me use reading glasses at night without compromising a good fit. F30 provides a full mouth and nose fit that maintains consistent pressure all night.

The main reason I purchased this new mask was because my old mask made my nose red

The main reason I purchased this new mask was because my old mask made my nose red. This mask doesn’t rest on my nose. It rests below my nose. It works the same as my other mask. Glad I purchased it.

Full face mask s

I have worn a full face mask for 15 years but wanted a canula style for the nose instead of over the nose. I am having trouble adjusting to this mask but am trying to persevere as I think this mask has a good design.

I purchased the F30 recently, I have been using it for years and very satisfied. BUT, I cannot disassemble the cushion part to clean it as I always do, something must be wrong with it

I really like the magnetic clips. The headgear straps were very comfortable and kept the mask secure on my head. I was happy with the QuietAir Vent. But I couldn't get comfortable with the under-the-nose cushion, so I'm switching to the F20 mask with the full nose covering.

I was hopeful this smaller looking full mask would be better than my f20. Unfortunately it leaked worse. I liked the nasal holes placement. Others may have better luck. I move around alot and that doesn't help.

I had used CPAP for 10 years until 12 years ago when I lost 100+ pounds and no longer needed it. Recently, my doctor and I determined that my sleep apnea had returned, and that diagnosis was confirmed by a sleep study.

My RT and I jointly decided that the ResMed AirFit F30 would be a good mask with which to start my new CPAP adventure. We were wrong. The biggest issue for me is the fit of the mask cushion's fit on my nose . The nostril holes in it are too small for my nose, and I could not keep the middle piece properly aligned with the middle of my nose. As a result, one or both nostrils became blocked by the mask cushion many times during the course of the night causing me to wake up and adjust the mask. One large hole almost certainly would work better for me. The mask cushion comes in only small and medium. I was using the medium, but I needed something larger as the medium pushed my nostrils closed from the sides and compounded the nostril hole problem.
