AirFit F30 Full Face CPAP Mask by ResMed
The AirFit F30 Full Face Mask by ResMed sports several important improvements over traditional full face CPAP masks which can be bulky and confining. The mask features a minimal contact full face cushion which sits comfortably under the nose and over the mouth, leaving the field of view unobstructed to reduce any feelings of claustrophobia. A multi-point adjustable headgear and magnetic headgear clips help improve mask fit and seal. Last but not least, the quick-release elbow with QuietAir vents improves comfort and ease of use.
Minimalist Cushion and Open-Face Design
The ResMed AirFit F30 Full Face Mask offers a comfortable and convenient alternative to traditional full face masks, which often obstruct the view and cause discomfort with forehead supports and straps. The AirFit F30 features a minimal contact full face cushion that cradles the nose from underneath, eliminating red marks and irritation on the nasal bridge. This design also helps prevent mask leaks around the nasal bridge which is a common concern amongst full face CPAP mask users.
The absence of a forehead support on the AirFit F30 also makes it a great option for CPAP users who are claustrophobic or feel suffocated by traditional full face masks. Additionally, the open-face design enables the user to wear glasses while using the mask, which is not usually feasible with most full face masks.
The AirFit F30 Full Face Mask is available in small and medium full face cushion sizes, with medium being the standard size that fits most people. Replacement cushions can be purchased separately and we recommend replacing mask cushions every 2 to 3 months for optimal mask seal.
Plush, Five-Way Adjustable Headgear with Magnetic Clips
The AirFit F30 Full Face Mask features a one-size-fits-all headgear with five-way adjusting straps to give you the best fit possible. Magnetic quick-release clips located on the bottom straps help guide the headgear to the frame so you can put the mask on and take it off with ease. This makes the AirFit F30 a great mask for all users, but especially for those with limited hand mobility.
Note:If you have a pacemaker or other metal medical implants, we recommend choosing a mask that does not use magnetic clips.
Quick-Release Elbow and QuietAir Vent
The AirFit F30 boasts a quick-release elbow that allows for late-night bathroom breaks without the need for mask readjustments. With the quick-release elbow, you can easily disconnect from and reconnect to your CPAP circuit without taking off your mask. The elbow also swivels 360 degrees, allowing for a full range of motion during sleep.
ResMed has also integrated its innovative QuietAir vent technology into the AirFit F30 elbow. With exhalation ports that direct air away from the user and bed partner, the QuietAir vent elbow minimizes noise and draft for a better night's sleep.
FAQ
What are the difference between the ResMed AirFit F20 and F30 Full Face Masks?
The main difference between the ResMed F30 mask and the very similar F20 mask is the cushion. The AirFit F20 cushion is a traditional, triangle-shaped full face cushion that covers the mouth and sits on the bridge of the nose.
The AirFit F30 cushion, on the other hand, covers the mouth but does not sit on the nasal bridge. Instead, the top part of the cushion sits underneath the nose, and openings at the top of the AirFit F30 cushion facilitate air flow into the nostrils.
Moreover, the AirFit F30 incorporates an adjustment strap at the crown of the head to enhance the fit and stability of the headgear, whereas the AirFit F20 lacks this crown adjustment strap.
Is the ResMed F30 mask compatible with all CPAP machines?
The ResMed AirFit F30 Full Face Mask is compatible with CPAP machines of all brands as well as all tubing with a 22 mm diameter cuff. Please note if you are using the AirFit F30 with the ResMed AirMini Auto Travel CPAP, you will need a ResMed AirMini F20/F30 Setup Pack.
How can I determine which CPAP mask will be most suitable for me?
If you know what mask you used during your sleep study, you can start from there. Think about what you liked and disliked about that mask and look for masks with similar characteristics. For more information and helpful tips on how to choose a CPAP mask, please see our guide on finding the right CPAP mask.
How do I set up the AirFit F30 Full Face Mask with my AirMini?
Remove the original mask elbow on your AirFit F30 and replace it with the AirMini F20/F30 connector elbow. The AirFit F30 and F20 share the same connector elbow which can be found in the ResMed AirMini F20/F30 Setup Pack or purchased separately here.
How do I clean the ResMed F30 mask?
Weekly: headgear, elbow, frame
Daily: cushion
- Disassemble the mask.
- Soak the cushion, headgear, elbow and frame in warm soapy water for up to ten minutes. Please use a mild detergent that is free from moisturizers and harsh chemicals such as bleach.
- Scrub the vent holes on the elbow with a soft bristle brush.
- Rinse all components thoroughly under running water and squeeze out excess water from the headgear. Lay parts out to air dry away from direct sunlight.
What is the recommended replacement schedule for the AirFit F30 mask?
We recommend replacing the AirFit F30 mask cushion every 2 to 3 months to ensure an optimal seal. The headgear should be replaced every 6 months or whenever it has stretched out. The mask frame and elbow connector can be replaced as needed.
Is the AirFit F30 mask recommended for CPAP users with facial hair?
The AirFit F30 mask can be a suitable option for CPAP users with facial hair. However, facial hair can interfere with the mask's ability to seal effectively. It is recommended to keep facial hair well-groomed and trimmed, particularly in the areas where the mask cushion comes in contact with the skin, to improve the mask's seal.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this mask based on the reviews, but a friend had recommended it to me so I decided to give it a shot. Iโm glad that I gave it a chance however, since itโs worked perfectly well. As a disclaimer however, Iโm a pretty static back sleeper. Canโt attest to how well the mask stays on during shifts.
Cushion โ This is a full face design but Resmed has changed up the nasal portion from the norm. Standard full face masks are a large triangle covering from the bridge of your nose to around your mouth. This one is more like a pillow that cradles under your nose. I find this to be more comfortable without a noticeable degradation in performance. The mouth portion seals well and is comfortable as well. I can breathe through both effortlessly. As additional nice touches, the hose has a quick release which is a must for me. Also, thereโs a diffuser design that helps reduce the sound of the air exhaust.
Headgear โ Like many other designs, it holds across the crown and the nape of the head. Four straps to adjust it, and magnetic clips. This seems to be around the industry standard now but I have nothing to complain about. Itโs sturdy, supple, and comfortable. There is an additional adjustment point on the top of the head, so you can adjust the overall lateral tightness as well. The headgear holds on well for me during night but as I said, I donโt tend to move around much.
Overall, the F30 is a great full face mask. As my friend once did, I would recommend this mask to others.
Overall [4.5/5 stars]
I'm very impressed by this mask. This is probably the first full face mask I've used that meets my standards both comfort-wise and function-wise. Before I switched to this mask, I used a nose pillow mask. I decided to switch because I was having trouble sleeping with my mouth closed. This was problematic not only for me, but also for my girlfriend who lost sleep because of me. This mask was the solution I was looking for.
Comfort [4 stars]
A lot of people seem to think that all full face masks aren't comfortable. I would also agree if it weren't for this mask. There are three main points that make this mask very comfortable.
1: First, there is absolutely no vision obstruction when using this mask. I'm able to put on my reading glasses before sleeping without a problem. I'm also able to put on my sleeping mask without a problem. Not all full face masks allow for users to do this, so this mask is pretty special in that regard.
2: Second, the marks on my face that are caused by this mask are very faint in the morning and disappear quickly. While I've tried a fair share of masks, the marks caused by this mask are almost unnoticeable. This is especially the case for my nose area. I'd say the most noticeable marks are left on my chin, but again, overall, the marks themselves are all very faint.
3: The last point is that while the straps are a bit difficult to adjust, they offer a lot of customization. I'm prone to getting headaches especially when my mask is too tight, but I haven't had this problem because I'm able to adjust the tightness of my mask perfectly to meet my needs.
Function [5 stars]
For reference, I sleep on my side. I used to have trouble with my old mask when it caused air to blow into my eyes. I haven't had this issue arise ever since switching to this mask.
I also have had only minimal issues with leakage. On the first day I switched to this mask, I don't think I adjusted my mask correctly because I woke up in the middle of the night to some leaking. I contacted Respshop about this, and they gave me excellent advice on how to adjust my mask better. Ever since, I haven't noticed issues with leaking. I'd say if you adjust the mask well, you shouldn't have problems with leaking.
[TL;DR] Pretty comfortable mask that does its job very well. Would recommend to everyone.
I switched to this mask from the AirFit F10. I am primarily a side sleeper, and this mask is far superior to the F10 for that sleep position. I experience a lot fewer leakage issues, and it is also more manageable when wearing glasses to read/watch TV before sleeping. I find the headgear doesn't need to be nearly as tight to maintain a decent seal which is not only more comfortable, but minimizes those pesky strap marks in the morning. I also had an ongoing problem with the F10 leakage being primarily from the top of the mask, meaning a choice between being so tight the bridge of my nose was constantly sore, or sore, dry eyes in the morning from having air blown against them all night. The F30 fixes that issue completely.
It took a bit to find the best way to get the mask to 'settle' right for the nasal openings, I find gently spreading the top of it and placing it against my nostrils before releasing works best for me.
The sole thing I don't like is the magnetic catches, the one against the pillow will sometimes detach while I'm sleeping. The mask fits so well that I frequently don't realize that's happened until I wake in the morning and remove it, but does result in my leak rate going over the acceptable margin.
Subject: The ResMed F30 mask is Awesome
I have used a CPAP machine for years with a full face mask. Always had problems with the fit and air leakage. Getting the ResMed F30 mask was a great change in my sleep comfort. No more mask on the bridge of my nose leaking air and blowing in my eyes. This mask covers the mouth and nasal passages without riding up on the nose. Con: At first the area been my nostrils was sore but took care of that by loosening the mask straps.
Finally a mask that fits my facial profile!
Subject: Good Mask
First time CPAP mask wearer, I heard that the AirFit line of masks was popular and the F30 seemed to be the newest model. The reviews had me a little worried but I decided to take a plunge knowing I could take advantage of Respshopโs mask return policy. Itโs been a few weeks now and Iโm very happy with the purchase. The mask is comfortable and Iโve been able to get very good sleep.
Pros- It was easy for me to get the mask setup. You assemble it and then tighten the straps until it fits comfortably. There were 5 different adjustment straps, 2 on each side of the face and then one at the top/back of our head. It feels secure and I havenโt had any issues with the mask sliding around at night. The magnetic clasps are nice for taking the mask off without having to loosen the straps, and they havenโt come loose for me although Iโm a fairly heavy sleeper. The mask itself is also nice, itโs a pliable silicon material that mostly holds along the sides of the mouth. My nose doesnโt get irritated and Iโve been able to breateh well.
Cons- I havenโt really had any issues so far, although the cushion replacements seem fairly expensive. The page says it only needs to be replaced every 6 months so it seems like each one should last a while though.
I do not understand how the template is used to determine the size, it is not clear, where I see a video
Hello Oscar,
Please print out the sizing gauge and follow the instructions below:
How to use the fitting template:
1. Please ensure the template
is printed to scale
2. Cut out along dotted line
3. Refer to diagram on template
to determine appropriate
cushion size
4. Place the template below your nose perpendicular to your face.
Narrow nose: start with the blue/red side of the template
Wide nose: start with the black/purple side of the template
5. If your nose falls inside or outside the margins on the template or
between two sizes, choose the large one.
6. Select appropriate cushion for your starter pack (standard or
small) if your nose size is S (red) or M (blue) and SW (purple). If
your nose is W (black), you'll need to order the cushion separately.
The standard and small starter pack come with three cushion sizes:
S, M, and L. Standard starter pack also comes with standard
frame; small starter pack also comes with small frame.
Hope this helps.
Subject: Did not work for me
I had used CPAP for 10 years until 12 years ago when I lost 100+ pounds and no longer needed it. Recently, my doctor and I determined that my sleep apnea had returned, and that diagnosis was confirmed by a sleep study.
My RT and I jointly decided that the ResMed AirFit F30 would be a good mask with which to start my new CPAP adventure. We were wrong. The biggest issue for me is the fit of the mask cushion's fit on my nose . The nostril holes in it are too small for my nose, and I could not keep the middle piece properly aligned with the middle of my nose. As a result, one or both nostrils became blocked by the mask cushion many times during the course of the night causing me to wake up and adjust the mask. One large hole almost certainly would work better for me. The mask cushion comes in only small and medium. I was using the medium, but I needed something larger as the medium pushed my nostrils closed from the sides and compounded the nostril hole problem.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry that mask did not work for you. Please contact us so we can help get you a mask better suited. 866-936-3754
Tried for first time last night. Under-nose pillow took some getting used to; finally did, and fell asleep, but on side, woke up 2 hours later with the plastic digging into my face an hurting. Had to take it off. Am returning and going to try conventional full-face mask (only had nasal mask previously, which I liked but my nasal passages are often not clear due to allergies, so I wake up with a headache because enough air can't get through).
**Gilda, even though that mask is a favorite with some it may not work for everyone. I am glad to see you returned it to us and got something better suited to you and we hope you are getting some good sleep now!

After using an F10 mask for years, I decided to try this F30 primarily out of long time frustration from trying to wear reading glasses in bed. WOW! Was I pleased w this purchase. The F30 is a little tougher to get properly situated under my nostrils, but once on (using my vanity mirror helps), this full face mask is awesome! No more issues w reading glasses not fitting, comfortable breathing through mouth or nose, easy hose connect if I must get out of bed during night. Very happy I made this investment in my comfort!
I tried this mask for a little over a month. You really need to snug the straps to get a decent seal and then the magnetic clips tend to not hold. In addition, the hose connection piece to this mask seemed quite leaky and my wife complained about the noise. The pieces that the magnetic clips are attached to do not inspire confidence. I would question the durability of this mask. In the end I returned to the F10 and it was like revisiting an old friend. I like the concept of this mask but the execution is lacking IMHO.

Is the correct measurement determined by the color that is:
1. outside of the outside line of my nose,
2. half on and off on the edge of my nose (similar to the blue in the example), or
3. well inside the outside line of my nose (similar to the yellow in the example)?
Also, if on the borderline between small and medium, which should one order?
