ResMed AirSense 11 (Air11) Auto CPAP Machine

Note: myAir app is only available in the US and Canada.

Introducing the ResMed AirSense 11 Auto CPAP - a smart, sleek and modern APAP machine that redefines sleep apnea treatment. With an intuitive touchscreen, large on/off button, integrated heated humidifier, built-in cellular and Bluetooth connectivity, the AirSense 11 AutoSet makes sleep apnea therapy more accessible and convenient than ever.

The AirSense 11's touchscreen controls have replaced the AirSense 10's click-and-turn action, allowing for easy adjustment of humidity, tube temperature and climate control with a simple tap of a finger. Starting therapy is just as hassle-free with only one large and easily accessible button on the whole device.

Despite the stylish new look, the AirSense 11 AutoSet retains the same beloved comfort features associated with ResMed CPAP machines. Like its predecessor, the AirSense 11 comes with a built-in heated humidifier with intelligent Climate Control, AutoRamp, Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR), SmartStart and the Mask Fit feature. It also has the options of heated and non-heated tubing, standard or cleanable water tub, standard and hypoallergenic filters, a carry bag, and a side cover if you wish to remove the water chamber.

Built with the latest Bluetooth and cellular communication technology, the ResMed AirSense 11 sets itself apart from other new sleep apnea machines by providing users with unprecedented access to their own digital sleep therapy coach. Users can connect to the myAir app to receive Care Check-In coaching and therapy assistance in the comfort of their own homes.

The AirSense 11 also provides your sleep specialist with remote access to your sleep data by transmitting therapy information to AirView, a secure cloud-based system for healthcare providers.

To further enhance your sleep therapy, RespShop offers a Remote Compliance and Therapy Reporting Service which complements the AirSense 11. Our team of respiratory therapists and sleep technicians can review your sleep data and provide feedback and direction.

Transform Your AirSense 11 into a Travel Machine with a Side Cover

The ResMed AirSense 11 can easily be downsized for traveling by replacing the water chamber with the optional side cover . The side cover conveniently turns off the humidifier when inserted, so there's no fear of leaving the humidifier running without water. It is also a great option for CPAP users who don't use humidity as it seals off the humidifier, preventing dust from entering the unit.

Default Machine Settings:

  • Ramp: Auto
  • Start Pressure: 4 cm H2O
  • Humidity Level: 4
  • Mask Type: Pillows
  • EPR: Off
  • SmartStart: Off
  • Tube Type: Slimline

FAQ

Can the AirSense 11 be used on the plane?
The AirSense 11 is FAA approved for in-flight use. CPAP machines are medical equipment and do not count against an airline’s carry-on limit. Airlines have different regulations regarding in-flight CPAP use. Please make sure you are familiar with your airline’s on-board CPAP use policy.

Does the AirSense 11 ClimateLineAir heated tubing work with any ResMed machine?
The AirSense 11 ClimateLineAir heated tubing is only compatible with the ResMed AirSense 11. It is not compatible with ResMed AirSense 10 or S9 models.

How do I adjust pressure on the AirSense 11?
Pressure settings can only be adjusted on the AirSense 11 through the AirSense 11 clinical menu. Please consult your sleep medicine provider before making changes to your therapy pressure as adjustments may affect the effectiveness of your treatment.

How do I clean the AirSense 11?
Cleaning the AirSense 11 involves changing the filter and washing the water chamber and tubing.

  1. Disposable filter - found on the back of the machine behind the filter cover. Discard and replace once a month or more frequently if needed. The filter keeps the air you breathe clean and protects the motor from dust buildup.
  2. Tubing (heated and nonheated) - wash once a week by soaking in warm, soapy water (use a mild detergent). Scrub the inside of the hose with a hose brush and rinse well under running water. Hang the tubing over a shower curtain rod to air dry.
  3. Water chamber (standard) - wash once a week with warm water and mild soap. Use a soft bristle brush to clean the inside of the chamber and air dry away from direct sunlight. Please note that the standard water chamber is not dishwasher safe. However, the cleanable water chamber is top-rack dishwasher safe.

How often should I replace my AirSense 11 supplies?
The AirSense 11 tubing (heated and nonheated) and water chamber should be replaced every 6 months. The filter (standard and hypoallergenic) should be replaced every 6 months or more frequently if you have pets.

Does the AirSense 11 automatically adjust pressure?
Yes, when the AirSense 11 is set on AutoSet/AutoSet For Her mode, it will automatically adjust pressure throughout the night. Pressure adjustments will be limited within the set minimum and maximum pressure settings.

Does the AirSense 11 come with a SD card?
No, the AirSense 11 does not come with a SD card. The AirSense 11 sends summary and detailed therapy data to providers using cellular communication, so a SD card is not required for data transmission. The machine's internal storage can hold up to 365 days of summary data without a SD card. However, detailed data storage will require a SD card.

What are the differences between the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP and the new AirSense 11?
The ResMed AirSense 11 offers improved Bluetooth connectivity and over-the-air software updates, as well as an AutoSet for Her mode. It also features full touchscreen navigation and a smaller, more streamlined design compared to the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet. A detailed comparison of the two AirSense models is available here .

Where is the AirSense 11 made?
The CPAP blower is made in Australia or Singapore. The power supply and travel bag are made in China.

Subject: Resmed Airsence 11
This is my first Cpap machine. I have currently used this machine for about a month and a half. The Machine was pre-set up by the company to the prescription requirement of my doctor. Pairing of the Resmed Airsence 11 to my phone with the Myair app was rather easy to do. It also had good step by step instructions on making adjustments to the machine also for mask type. The owner is also able to go into the clinical settings and adjust the pressure and ramp time if needed ( by doctors orders) them self. This Cpap also has a "warmup" function where it starts heating up the water for humidity before you put the mask on, I find this setting useful to push air thought the tubing and mask to push out some of that rubbery type smell of the tubing. The only down side i have found with this machine is the humidifier chamber. For some reason at the hinge point is lower and sloped down from the rest of it, that makes the max fill line higher then the hing point. The trick i have found is to tilt the humidifier tub back and then fill it and close the lid before moving it back level. Makes filling the tub easier to the max line, and spilling less water. The only thing i wish they would do is make a different water tub that had the hinge point higher up so one wouldn't need to tilt it back to fill to capcity.

In short this machine is really easy to use, and set up. The displace is nice and bright if there is light in the room. and not to bright when the room is dark or dimmed. Noise wise is it fairly quiet in my option, but i have no other machine to compare it to. The noise from the air moving out of the mask vents is much more notifiable then the machine its self.

Subject: Terrible Design Flaw
Whoever is in charge of their design team should be fired. How could they make their latest and greatest machine and completely fumble by making the hose come straight out (perpendicular) from the back of the machine? This machine uses a different hose than the previous AirSense 10 machine that came out with a 90-degree elbow. The new hoses do not come with a 90-degree option, and the old hoses are intentionally designed to not be compatible. To someone who doesn't use a machine this might not seem like a big deal, but if anyone on the design team actually used one, they would understand just what a fumble this is. This caused the now smaller machine, to take up twice as much space on a nightstand than the older larger design. Who could possibly think this is acceptable. When I bought my machine, I was told there was an adapter for this, but it turns out one DOES NOT EVEN EXIST. Now I will be forced to downgrade to the outdated model that does not even have wireless capabilities anymore.

Subject: Works great!
Since this is my first CPAP unit, I have nothing to compare it to and thus don’t have the same complaints as some other reviewers. I had a friend who let me try his AirMini which is why I decided that using a CPAP machine wouldn’t be so bad. Of course that’s a smaller unit but I found the hoses on that much more cumbersome to sleep with. It would be fine for a few days of travel but the AirSense 11 with the n30i mask works very well for me. It’s quiet, compact and I really like how the hose connects at the head so I can turn over at night and not have to reposition hoses. It was more expensive than the AirSense 10 but I wanted the slightly smaller unit and the mobile app to go with it vs. having to deal with an SD card that I don’t even know if I would be able to read myself. For me, it was worth the upgrade.

Subject: Airsense 11 review
Just purchased this machine as a replacement for a recalled Philips Dreamstation (thanks for the delay, Philips) machine. It was extremely easy to order and setup, seems to work great and is quiet as well.

My criticisms so far:
- Wonky reservoir design
- Reservoir uses water much faster than Philips machine (perhaps it holds far less water)
- Machine not provided with a cover to use when travelling and not using reservoir
- Host attachment at back of machine seems crude compared to Philips which had a swivel adapter on the top

Those items aside, again so far with 1-2 weeks of use, seems like a solid unit.

Subject: Resmed AIr Sense 11 Auto
The machine new touch screen features is an improvement over the Air Sense 10 auto. The air sense 11 noise is not as good as the Air sense 10. There is distinctive noise during inhalation on the AIr sense 11 while in use. The Air sense 10 is quiet.

Maybe it is just the Air sense 11 unit that was sent but I am not happy with the purchase. I would like it replaced with a new Air sense 11 or exchange for a Air sense 10 with credit for the price difference.

Subject: Excellent pre-sales support
I am very pleased with the pre-sales support provided by Ms. Patty. All my questions about product selection, features, delivery time-frames, etc. were professionally responded by her. The response was very fact based (no over-promising), knowledgeable and courteous. The committed shipment date was 5/20/2022 but the product was shipped on 5/16/2022. RespShop under-promised and over-delivered. Thank you Patty and the RespShop team for your excellent service!

Subject: Resmed Airsense 11 Autoset is fabulous
I can't compare this to any other product because I'm a newbie but this little unit is fantastic. It does the job and changes pressure when I need it. I find the printout OSCAR reports really helpful and like the MyAir app. I've felt much better using this little beauty. I hope you enjoy your therapy and get through the first week of adjustment. It's worth it.

Subject: Airsense 11
This CPAP was so easy to set up using the app. There were step by step directions. So far I love using it. Tje only thing I will say if you should be careful not to put too much water in the reservoir. I filled mine to the Max fill line and water ended up getting in the tubing and cause it to give me a High Leak Detection.

Question
I am enjoying having the wifi ability on my new Airsense 11 so I can use the ap MyAir. Sometimes I see my AHI be higher than 5. Should I be concerned?

Answer
Every once in a while you may see the AHI score be higher than 5. This could be caused by a large mask leak. You want to see the AHI be less than 5 more often than not. To really know what is happening with your data a compliance report would be beneficial. We have a remote data compliance service to assist you with this.

Question
Will the humidifier turn off automictically if the water runs out of the chamber?

Answer
Unfortunately not. However the water should not run out after one night unless you did not top up the water in your chamber or your mask is leaking excessively. If there is a leak of 20/lpm or more this may be why your water chamber is running out of water.

Was this helpful?
Question
What kind of water chamber does the Airsense 11 come with?

Answer
The standard water chamber comes with the purchase of the machine, if you would like to add the cleanable water chamber which can be placed in the dishwasher than that can be added separately.

Question
The water tank runs dry every night, (humidity set to auto). Worse refilling is a challenge, and often machine will not work unless the tank is slammed into the CPAP. This often forces water into the tubing, causing a gurgle. Now I have to dismantle and drain the tubing. Huge design flaw. Any fixes available? A larger water tank is clearly needed

Answer
I am sorry to hear that!
I have a few questions- is your mask fitting well? You will go through more water when you have a leak.

You can also increase your tube temperature if you are using a heated hose to assist with the gurgle!

Question
Does anybody know which setting or settings on the Resmed 11 allows for optimal ease of exhaling? I've adjusted all the settings repeatedly and I can't seems to make an adjustment which allows me to exhale easily. I've tried an array of different masks but they all feel basically the same. The pressure seems okay when I'm in a testing mode but at night when I'm sleeping is when I notice that exhaling is troublesome. I realize that there should be a bit of pressure but I don't think it should actually wake me up. I've tried the CPAP setting and the Autoset Setting. Help!

Answer
If you are new to CPAP, awakening due to high pressure is normal. However, if you are finding that your max pressure is too high, contact your provider to see if this can be lowered. Have your provider also look into the EPR setting, this is a comfort feature to assist with ease of exhalation. Ensure your mask setting is showing the correct mask type, if you are using a full face mask but the setting is showing nasal pillows, the pressure flow will feel different and uncomfortable.

Was this helpful?
Question
How can I find out what the best pressure setting is for me? I have Airsense 11 Auto as of a month ago. I get gurgling in the hose. I also get mask refit notices but the nose pillows fit fine and I don't hear any leaking!

Answer
Your machine will be able to advise you of your 95th percentile pressure and events per hour to see if you are being adequately treated. Gurgling can mean there is water in your tube, either your humidifier setting needs to be lowered or you will benefit from a heated hose.
Feel free to call RespShop if your provider cannot assist you with this. We do offer remote assistance for a fee and can send compliance should your machine have a modem.

Question
What time of day does it use to change the date of the information on the app? I sleep late and during the day sometimes, just trying to figure out the cut off for the night before, when it changes to the next day.

Question
My question is why every time the electricity goes off my CPAP will not come back on for the next 2 days and I know it doesn't take that long to reboot so what's the problem

Answer
Hi there, please try unplugging and plugging back into the wall, or trying a different outlet. Please give us a call if the problem persists.

Question
My new air sense 11 model is set at 4 but I don't sleep at night because it is way too powerful, I have to tighten my mask so much that it hurts but air still seems to come out of it, I have a medium mask and the air makes my cheeks blow up if that makes any sense. I have not slept thru since I received my machine, thought maybe I could lower the 4 to a 3 to see if it will help but it goes no lower than 4.

Answer
4 is the lowest setting a CPAP machine can go. You do not want to have your mask too tight as that can cause pressure sores and issues breathing. My suggestion would be to take your mask into the bathroom and fit it comfortably. Ensure when fastening that all sides are even. Take your machine out of your bedroom setting and maybe set it up in the living room or spare room where you can watch tv or read a book. Once comfortable plug your hose to your mask and turn your machine on and relax. If you are using a nasal mask breathe in and out from your nose comfortably. If you have an issue breathing out of your nose, switch to a full face mask if you need to open your mouth to breathe.
