Enjoy quieter, more comfortable CPAP therapy with the RespShop In-Line CPAP Muffler, capable of reducing noise level by 3-9dB!

Engineered as a universal solution, the RespShop In-Line Muffler works with all standard CPAP and travel CPAP machines using non-heated tubing. Its sound-insulating foam and smooth internal design reduce noise caused by airflow turbulence, while maintaining your prescribed pressure and expiratory relief. Tested: a noise reduction of 3-6dB with Full Face Masks and 6-9dB on Nasal Masks!

Compared to standard in-line mufflers, this version offers added comfort and durability, including a longer connection tube, smoother finishes, a cap that works as diffuser (so it's like two products in one!), and body that can be opened for cleaning and foam replacement.

Key Features

  • Compatible with CPAP and travel CPAP machines (AirMini users will need an adaptor and standard tubing. We recommend checking the AirMini Noise Cancelling Kit or choosing the Muffler+Adapter option)

  • Works with all standard (non-heated) CPAP tubings

  • Designed to reduce noise by smoothing airflow and respiratory flow without lowering prescribed pressure. Tested: a noise reduction of 3-6dB with Full Face Masks and 6-9dB on Nasal Masks!

  • The special removable cap works as a diffuser, removing the need of an external one. It's like two products in one!
  • Lightweight and travel-friendly

  • Can be opened for cleaning and foam replacement

  • Longer tubing length for improved comfort and flexibility

  • Smooth, durable finish for easier handling

 Choose the more convenient option:

  • Muffler Kit Only: For most CPAP Home & Travel Machines (except ResMed | AirMini)
  • Muffler Kit + Adapter: Custom-made for ResMed | AirMini
  • Muffler Kit + Adapter + 5 Foams: Bundle & Save with 5 extra foams

Easy Setup

  1. Connect the included flex tubing to your CPAP machine’s air outlet, AirMini connector adapter (if applicable), or heat moisture exchanger. For AirMini, select the "Muffler+Adapter" option.

  2. Attach the RespShop In-Line Muffler to the tubing.

  3. Connect your CPAP hose from the muffler to your mask and resume therapy as usual.

Designed for Long-Term Use

The RespShop In-Line CPAP Muffler can be opened for cleaning and foam replacement, helping maintain performance over time. Replacement foam inserts are available individually or in bulk, making it a cost-effective and sustainable solution for long-term CPAP users.

*Not compatible with heated CPAP tubing.

This muffler significantly reduces noise levels on travel CPAP machines, with customers saying it makes devices "much quieter" and cuts "shrillness." Most found it "dramatically" effective for better sleep. One customer noted minimal difference, and another mentioned needing an adapter for certain masks. Easy to install and pack.

Great Noise Reducer for AirMini

Got this from RespShop as part of my new AirMini + P10 combo. The system had a lot of loud air "whooshing" noise before I added the muffler, but it's now MUCH quieter.
Note: RespShop has the adapter that goes from the AirMini to the muffler kit hose, but I had to find an adapter to connect the muffler output to the AirMini hose for my AirMini P10 mask (the one with the HumidX device). I couldn't find the adapter at RespShop, so I had to get it (as part of a 4-pack of adapters) from the big online retailer. I put it on the output of the muffler and attached the AirMini hose to it. (See photo of my setup)
RespShop: please consider carrying the clear plastic adapter shown, so we can use our Airmini tube & HumidX masks with your muffler. Thanks!

I didn't really notice a sound reduction difference but I'm not sure whether 3-9 dB is readily perceptible to the average human ear. I think i need something more like a baffle than a muffler. One good thing is that the muffler and it's connecting hose do provide an additional 12" of length to the hose which is helpful.

Cuts the shrillness

You can definitely hear the difference between having the muffler on and not having it. My cpap sounded pretty shrill until I installed the muffler.

Conquers Darth Vader

This actually works to bring the Darth Vader noise down to a respectable inhale exhale sleepable noise level. Tip: I bought the one with the extra insert and threw the insert away by accident. Don't do that!😉

This addition to the Resmed AirMini Auto Travel CPAP Machine was fantastic... reducing the sound of air passing into the tube to my mask! The muffler tubing accessory is simple to install / remove and easy to pack with the rest of the kit. Well worth the minor expense!

Significant Improvement!

Knocked down the volume of the airmini pretty dramatically. Make sure to grab the conversion kit for normal hoses and masks and it makes travel a breeze.

The CPAP Muffler kit is a mandatory purchase for your travel device

The CPAP Muffler kit is a mandatory purchase for your travel device. The smaller/travel devices are considerably noisier than home models so if you want a good nights sleep on the road, make sure you put this kit in your cart.

Added muffler to my mini(great choice)

I had purchased a Cpap mini for traveling and it has been great. My only issue is it was louder than my home unit. I recently purchased the muffler and it really has made a difference. Much quieter.

Will this product work with a transcend mini travel CPAP? I am hearing all breaths in and out, and I do not hear that noise with my at-home unit. It is disruptive. I was told when I bought it that it could be noisier than my home unit. I thought that meant more white noise, not hearing “Darth Vader” noise all night. Thanks for any info you can provide.

RespShop

Hi Bea,

Yes! This CPAP Muffler is compatible with the Transcend Micro travel CPAP and may help reduce the sound traveling through the tubing by 3 to 9 dB.

That said, hearing your own breathing, sometimes described as the "Darth Vader" effect, is fairly common with travel CPAP machines because they are much smaller and place the motor closer to you than a standard home unit. While the muffler can help reduce tubing noise, it may not completely eliminate the sound of your breathing.

I just received my air mini muffler, adapter & extra filters. I can figure out how to connect my hose to the filter. The adapter connects to the AirMini ok, it’s the output end that won’t. What am I missing?

RespShop

Hi Kurt,

On the product page, you can find an image that shows exactly how the muffler, adapter, and hose should be connected. That may help identify what's missing in your setup.

If you're still having trouble after reviewing the diagram, please contact our Customer Service team at 866-936-3754 or send us a photo of your setup, and we'll be happy to assist further.

How often should we replace the foam inside?
Is it gently hand-washable with mild soap & water, if we let it dry thoroughly?
Also, does the "shiny" side of the foam go against the muffler wall (with the rough "spongy" side towards the center airflow)?
Thanks!

RespShop

Hi! The foam inside the CPAP Muffler is not designed to be washed or reused long term, as moisture and handling can affect its performance over time. We generally recommend replacing the foam whenever you notice reduced noise reduction, visible wear, discoloration, or after several months of regular use depending on usage and environment.

We do not recommend washing the foam with soap and water, since it may change the structure of the material even if fully dried afterward.

For placement, the smoother/shiny side of the foam should face the muffler wall, while the rougher spongy side should face inward toward the airflow. 😊
