Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clean the Drive Medical Reusable Nebulizer Kit?

The Reusable Nebulizer Kit can be hand washed or cleaned in the dishwasher. To prevent the risk of infection, clean your nebulizer after each treatment.

  1. Turn off and unplug the nebulizer compressor.
  2. Disconnect the nebulizer tubing from the compressor.
  3. Detach the mouthpiece or mask from the nebulizer cap. Then, remove the cap from the medication cup and take out the baffle.
  4. Wash all nebulizer parts except the tubing with hot water and mild dish soap.
  5. Rinse parts thoroughly with hot tap water.
  6. Let all parts air dry completely before reassembly.
Do I need to disinfect the nebulizer?

Disinfecting your nebulizer (reusable and disposable) daily adds an extra layer of protection that helps further reduce the risk of infection.

  1. Disassemble the nebulizer.
  2. Soak all parts (except the tubing) in a solution of 3 parts hot water to 1 part white vinegar for 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a bacterial-germicidal disinfectant solution following the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. With clean hands, remove the nebulizer parts and rinse them thoroughly under hot tap water.
  4. Let all parts air dry completely before reassembly.
  5. Store the nebulizer in a clean, sealed bag.
How often should I replace the Reusable Nebulizer Kit?

For best performance, replace the Reusable Nebulizer Kit every 6 months. More frequent use may necessitate replacing it sooner.

There is nothing wrong with the item at all

There is nothing wrong with the item at all. I need a different type which seems to be hard to find unless you order the small compressor which I intend to do. Thank you for everything and again, it was just as described on your website, john bryant.

I noticed my nebulizer cup was leaking. I have only used it less than a dozen times. The amount of time before the medication is gone is significantly less.

RespShop

Hi Eve,

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

A nebulizer cup should not leak after such limited use. To help us look into this further, could you let us know where the cup is leaking from? If possible, please also send us a photo or short video showing the issue.

Once we have a better look, we'll be happy to help find the best solution.

If you'd prefer, you're also welcome to give our Customer Service team a call at 866-936-3754, and they'll be happy to assist you further.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Can o sterilize my kit in the microwave with Dr. Brown's microwave steam sterilizer bag

RespShop

Hi Marlys,

Thanks for your question! We would not recommend sterilizing the reusable nebulizer kit in a microwave steam sterilizer bag unless the manufacturer specifically states that it's microwave-safe. The safest method is to follow the cleaning and disinfecting instructions provided with the nebulizer kit to avoid damaging the components.

If you have any questions about proper cleaning or maintenance, feel free to call our Customer Service team at **866-936-3754**. We'd be happy to help!

Do you wash the corrugated reservoir tube after using?

RespShop

Hi there 😊

Yes, it’s recommended to clean the tubing from the Drive Medical Reusable Nebulizer Kit regularly, but it should not be fully washed or submerged like the other parts.

Typically, you should:
- Rinse and clean the mouthpiece and medication cup after each use
- Let the tubing air dry and avoid getting water inside it

If moisture does get into the tube, make sure it’s completely dry before using it again.
