CPAP and BiPAP Bacterial Filter by Sunset Healthcare

This Bacterial Filter from Sunset Healthcare significantly reduces the bacteria and viral content in your CPAP or BiPAP airflow. It is compatible with CPAP and BiPAP machines of all brands and connects to all standard 22mm OD CPAP tubing. It can be used with or without a heated humidifier.

This filter is not washable and should be replaced weekly or when dirty. If this bacterial filter is connected to a machine with a heated humidifier, it will require more frequent replacement, typically every three days. This is because the filter becomes saturated with moisture from the humidifier.

Usage Instructions

Connect one end of the bacterial filter to your machine and the other end to your hose.  If you are using a heated tubing, place the bacterial filter between your CPAP mask and heated tubing.

Subject: not worth it
The bacteria filter I bought is $7 and cast me $13 in shipping! That is unacceptable and I will not be using this company in the future. Also the filter degraded my CPAP pressure slightly, so I stopped using it. This was supposed to be a stop-gap while the CPAP recall process plays out, but Respshop said I need to replace this filter every three days! Are you kidding me? At that price? Good business move Respshop! Bad move for me!

Hi John, on our webpage for the product, it does say that this is just to protect from particulates, but will not protect from gas unfortunately. This should only be ordered if recommended by your doctor. The filter can only last 3 days if you use it with the humidifier as the moisture will block the pressure. It is also noted that users may notice a differential in pressures depending on current settings. I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you decide to order more, please use code FILTER to save on shipping for the filter.

Question
Is the filter ok to use on a CPAP device without humidifier?

Answer
Yes, it is in fact better for its longevity to not use a humidifier.

Question
Is the filter ok to use on a CPAP with humidifier?

Answer
Yes you may use this filter with a humidifier. You will need to change it more often if it gets wet for it will create a resistance in your airflow. I suggest changing every other day or 3 days at most. Thank you

Question
I have a Philips Dreamstation that is part of the recall. Can this filter be washed and reused or is it restricted to one-time usage (3-7 days depending on humidifier)?

Answer
These can't be washed, they are meant to be disposable single-use items.

Question
I have a so clean for my Philips will the filter still work and how often will I have to change it. Also should I use the cleaner with the filter?

Answer
Philips is recommending that patients halt use of ozone-related cleaning products. Dish soap and water is what is recommended, and vinegar/water solution as needed. The filter is recommended to be used with the Humidifier off as well, as the filter will last longer this way. If used with the humidifier you may only get about 3 days of use on it. We are however sold out at the moment, so please check back weekly for updates.

Question
How long can you use the filters on the machine before changing it?

Answer
The filter is generally good for about 1-2 weeks. You can look inside of the filter, and if it looks a dark grey or black after 1-2 weeks it is time to change it. This is with your Humidifier turned OFF. If the humidifier is being used with the filter, it will only last about 3 days.

Question
Which one do I purchase for my machine and where does it go on machine
Diana Pezzulich

Answer
Hello you may purchase the Sunset Healthcare CPAP bacterial filter from Respshop link below. It will go between the cpap and the tubing. However you may not use the humidifier during this time and if you have a heated hose you will need to place it between the mask and tubing.
https://www.respshop.com/cpap-supplies/filters/sunset-healthcare-cpap-bacteria-filter-p-804.html

Question
Which replacement filter do I order?

Answer
This is a Bacterial Inline Filter that can be used in between the machine and standard tubing, or between the tubing and the mask. It can be used to prevent particles from entering your airway, if there is breakdown inside the machine. This is a standard filter and will be any standard tubing sizes.
