Oxygen Concentrators, Batteries, Nasal Cannulas For Sale
At RespShop, we offer a wide selection of home-use and travel-friendly oxygen concentrators for sale. These oxygen making machines generate oxygen by removing nitrogen from the air, leaving you with high-quality, medical-grade oxygen that can be up to 96% pure.
With oxygen concentrators, there are no tanks to refill or replace, eliminating concerns about scheduling oxygen deliveries or running out of supply.
Why Are Oxygen Machines Important?
Oxygen machines are a safe and cost-effective solution for individuals who need supplemental oxygen therapy. Oxygen therapy can be prescribed to individuals whose blood oxygen levels are below normal, often due to a medical condition. Some of these conditions include:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Severe asthma
- Pneumonia
- Lung cancer
How Do I Choose an O2 Concentrator? Recommendations From RespShop Experts
Before you buy an oxygen concentrator, it’s important to understand what features you need in order to enhance your therapy experience. In general, we recommend first deciding if you need an oxygen breathing machine solely for use at home or if you are looking for one that can also be used outside the house.
Once you know where you plan to use your oxygen machine, the next step is choosing a model that meets your oxygen needs. If you require assistance with understanding your oxygen prescription, our team of respiratory therapists and sleep technologists are happy to help.
Oxygen Concentrator Types
There are two types of O2 concentrators: portable oxygen concentrators and home oxygen concentrators, also known as stationary oxygen concentrators.
Portable Oxygen Concentrators
- Compact and great for active oxygen users
- Multiple power options: rechargeable lithium battery, AC and DC power
- Most portable oxygen concentrators deliver pulse dose oxygen, but some offer both pulse dose and continuous flow oxygen delivery
Pulse dose - a bolus or “pulse” of oxygen is delivered when the machine detects user inhalation.
Continuous flow - machine delivers a steady stream of oxygen regardless of inhalation or exhalation.
Read about pulse dose and continuous flow in detail and why it matters to your therapy.
Home Oxygen Concentrators
- Larger and heavier units designed for home use
- Must be plugged into AC power to operate (no battery option)
- Provide continuous flow oxygen at flow rate as low as 0.5 liters per minute (LPM) and up to 10 LPM
See our comparison reviews of top-rated low-flow (up to 5 LPM) home O2 machines and high-flow (up to 10 LPM) home O2 concentrators.
Oxygen Breathing Machine Features
Oxygen breathing machines come with a range of features to enhance their usability, and safety. Here are some common features:
Easy Maintenance
Modern O2 concentrators need minimal maintenance. Many only require users to wash the air filter once a week and others don’t even have external filters that need to be cleaned.
Refer to our Oxygen Concentrator Care Guide for more information on cleaning and disinfecting your machine and supplies.
Pulse Dose vs. Continuous Flow Oxygen Delivery
Pulse dose is more energy efficient than continuous flow, which is why this delivery mode is found in all portable oxygen concentrators.
Continuous flow requires more energy, but also delivers a higher concentration of oxygen. This mode is found in all home oxygen concentrators.
AC/DC Power Compatible
All portable oxygen concentrators, which are battery powered oxygen machines designed for travel, can run off AC and DC power in addition to the battery.
These lightweight oxygen producing devices come equipped with a rechargeable lithium battery, AC power supply and DC adapter.
Home oxygen concentrators, on the other hand, use around 350 watts on average. These larger oxygen generators require an AC power source.
Battery Operated
This feature is found only in portable oxygen concentrators.
Oxygen Purity Indicator (OPI)
An add-on safety feature with an additional cost for some machines, OPI ensures oxygen remains above a minimal concentration.
Machines with OPIs will notify the user with visual and/or audible alarms when oxygen purity drops below a certain level.
Alarms
Common alarms are low oxygen purity, power supply failure, low oxygen etc.
Humidifier Attachment
Oxygen can be very dry. Using a humidifier bottle with your oxygen machine helps alleviate nasal dryness and prevents nosebleeds.
