The Freestyle 5 has been approved for air travel by the FAA and can be used during the flight with the battery. The altitude may affect the oxygen delivered so you should consult with your healthcare provider before traveling to see if a setting change is needed during a flight.

  Can I use the Freestyle 5 around my fireplace?
  The Freestyle 5 produces a high concentration of oxygen which can promote rapid burning. It is recommended you are at least 5 ft away from any open flames, including cigarettes.
  
  Any difference between this new style battery and the old model?
  The new battery pack provides an additional 30 minutes of duration at a setting of 2 which provides up to 2.5 hours with a single battery pack when set at 2
