This allows the sleep apnea chin strap to have a customizable fit that will reduce or completely eliminate airflow leaks out of the mouth during the night.
- Three point design - Ensures that you have correctly aligned your PureSom chin strap while supporting the chin with the least amount of discomfort possible
- Two different sizes - Available in standard and extra large to provide versatility
- Two different adjustment points - At the crown of the head and base of the neck for a custom fit every time
I was having trouble with keeping my mouth closed during CPAP therapy, having a lot of mouth leaks at night resulting in waking up with a dry throat. This chin strap was great because it is adjustable, allowing me to tighten or loosen at my discretion very easily in order to make sure that my chin was secure while not sacrificing comfort. There are two different adjustment points, one on top of the head, and one at the bottom of the chin near the neck, which allowed me to adjust in both spots so that I could find the perfect fit.
- Small = 23" - 25"
- Medium = 25" to 27"
- Large = 27" to 29"
What are some of the possible side effects of breathing out of the mouth during CPAP therapy?
Breathing out of the mouth can cause discomfort after using your CPAP machine, most notably a dry mouth or dry nasal area, as air flow will leak out of the mouth during the night. Chin straps are designed to secure the mouth in place, while not interfering with your CPAP mask.
Do I need a chin strap to use my CPAP mask?
No, chin straps are not required during CPAP therapy, and they might not be for everybody. We recommend a chin strap if you are having a problem keeping your mouth closed during the night and therefore experiencing leaks. You might not know whether or not your mouth is open during the night, but if you are experiencing a dry mouth or a dry nose in the morning even if you're using a heated humidifier and heated tubing, it is possible that your mouth tends to open during the night and a chin strap might work for you.
