Eclipse CPAP/BiPAP Mask Starter Kit
Eclipse is the next generation of headgear-free CPAP mask innovation by BLEEP. Partially funded by a National Institute of Health grant, Eclipse by BLEEP is designed to improve CPAP compliance and PAP therapy effectiveness. It is over 35% smaller than popular nasal/nasal pillow masks on the market and features a no-headgear design that significantly reduces claustrophobia. MagSeal™ technology allows users to quickly connect and disconnect the Eclipse frame to the Halo adhesives which are applied to the nose.
The Eclipse Starter Kit contains two components: a reusable Eclipse Connector Kit Frame and two boxes of disposable Halo adhesives. Each box of Halos contains 32 adhesives for 16 nights of use and additional Halos can be purchased separately. The Eclipse Connector Kit Frame consists of a flexible 16" tube with diffuser and magnetic connectors which connect to the Halos.
Halo Adhesives
The Eclipse Halos are disposable surgical grade, corn and latex-free, PBA adhesives which can be trimmed to fit the shape of the nose. They are a no-leak solution for CPAP users with facial hair and more comfortable than nasal pillows, which can cause chafing inside the nostrils. The Halos work best when applied to clean, dry skin that has been prepped with a mild astringent, such as witch hazel or alcohol. Makeup remover and soap contain oils and moisturizers that will interfere with the Halo adhesives and should not be used to prepare the skin.
No Headgear
The BLEEP Eclipse is the ultimate CPAP mask solution for unsightly facial strap marks, hair thinning or pulling, skin irritation and other common issues associated with traditional CPAP masks. With the Eclipse, you can say goodbye to skin irritation and painful sores on the nose bridge caused by an overtightened headgear. If you're experiencing hair loss due to CPAP mask use, the Eclipse is the ideal mask for you.
MagSeal™ Technology
The Eclipse uses MagSeal® Magnetic Port Technology™ for rapid connection and disconnection between the Eclipse Connector Frame and Halos. The frame features two nostril ports, each with 8 magnets arranged in a circular fashion around the port opening. These magnets adhere to stainless steel magnetic rings on the Halo adhesives. The Eclipse is designed for active sleepers and provides a leak-free sleep no matter how you move. A tube management system, such as a hose lift, is recommended to prevent tube drag and entanglement.
*Magnets used in the Eclipse comply with ICNIRP guidelines for general public use. However, the magnets should be kept at least 2" (50 mm) away from active metallic medical implants such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
RespShop Review
Reviewed by Susan, CSSC
When I saw that BLEEP had come out with a new mask that does not require a headgear, I was ecstatic!
After reviewing some helpful videos online, I asked if we could order the BLEEP Eclipse to try it out, and I am glad we did. On occasion I have issues with my headgear slipping around while sleeping and was bothered by the marks the mask left on my face. After one night of use, I was surprised as to how well the cushions stuck to my nostrils as well as how durable and comfortable the mask felt on my face.
The BLEEP Eclipse is easy to wash and simple to use, which I really appreciate. It’s also very travel friendly because it’s so small. While the manufacturer suggests using a hose lift for tube management, I slept just fine without one.
I found it very easy to wake up in the middle of the night by simply detaching the magnetic nasal cushion from the Halos or removing the interface hose from my CPAP tube. I was unsure whether the cushion would stay in place all night or whether the Halos nasal tape would remain attached, but both worked very well. The Halos are made of hypoallergenic surgical-grade adhesive that is free of BPA, corn, and latex.
The very best thing about the Bleep Eclipse is NO LEAKS! This mask really does stay in place all night without any leaks. I slept like a baby!
What I liked about the Eclipse:
- Simple to use
- Easy to clean
- No headgear
- No CPAP mask marks on face
- No leaks = better sleep
- Hypoallergenic
What I didn't like as much about the Eclipse:
- Halos are not reusable and need to be purchased regularly.
- The Eclipse uses magnets to connect to the Halos, so if you have any medical implants like a pacemaker, you should talk to your doctor before use.
FAQ
What machines are compatible with the Eclipse?
The Eclipse comes with a 16" tube with a standard connection that is compatible with all CPAP, APAP and BiPAP machines. If you use the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP, you will need the AirMini CPAP Tubing Connection Adapter.
Is the Eclipse FDA Cleared?
Yes, the Eclipse received FDA approval number K172335.
How often do I need to replace the Eclipse?
The Eclipse Connector Frame is typically replaced every 90 days, while the Halos are single-use adhesives, and each box of 32 Halos will last for 16 nights.
How do I clean the Eclipse?
The Eclipse frame should be cleaned after every use with mild soap and water. Do not use soap that contains moisturizers or antibacterial agents, bleach and antiseptics.
How do I apply the Halos?
To ensure an optimal seal, clean your skin with a mild astringent such as witch hazel or alcohol prior to applying the Halos. If you have oily skin, you may need to use a stronger astringent. Please do not use soap or makeup remover as they contain oils and moisturizers that will interfere with the adhesive. If you have a mustache, trim your skin just below the nostrils before applying the Halos.
The metallic ring of each Halo should sit centered over each nostril. When applying the second Halo, ensure that the tape does not overlap with the ring of the first Halo already on the nostril. You may need to trim the Halos with the paper backing in place to prevent overlap. Press the adhesive firmly into the skin to guarantee a leak-free seal.
How do I remove the Halos?
Gently peel the Halos down and away from the nose to remove.
Can I use the Eclipse if I'm a mouth breather?
If you tend to breathe through your mouth during sleep, we recommend using a chin strap with the Eclipse to prevent mouth opening.
MAGNETIC WARNING: Magnets used in the Eclipse™ are within ICNIRP guidelines for general public use. The magnetic strength is 65 mT. Ensure the mask is at least 0.8 inches (2 cm) away from any active medical implant or medical device (e.g., pacemaker, defibrillators, neurostimulators, cochlear implants, hearing aids), to avoid possible effects from localized magnetic fields. If patient/household member has magnets or metal in their bodies consult a physician prior to use.
