My DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask is leaking. What should I do?

Gently pull the mask away from your face and then release it, allowing the cushion seal to inflate and settle comfortably under your nose.
Make sure to clean both your mask cushion and your face, as facial oils can interfere with the seal.
Ensure you're wearing your DreamWear mask according to the fitting instructions in the user guide. The way you put on the mask significantly impacts the seal.
Adjust your headgear as necessary.
Try a larger or smaller cushion/frame size.
Replace any worn out mask parts.

Yes, the DreamWear Nasal Mask is ideal for sleeping in all positions (back, side, stomach) due to its tube-up design.

How do I clean my DreamWear Nasal Mask?

Weekly cleaning: headgear, fabric sleeves
Daily cleaning: cushion, frame, elbow

Disassemble the mask.
Hand wash all mask parts in warm water with mild soap.
Rinse each part thoroughly under running water.
Air-dry all parts away from direct sunlight. Lay the headgear and fabric sleeves flat to dry, or you can hang them to dry.

What is the difference between the new DreamWear Nasal Mask with Headgear Arms and the original DreamWear Nasal Mask?

Simply put, it's the headgear. The new Headgear with Arms boasts an improved design to minimize mask movement while you sleep. The good news is, the actual mask itself – the nasal cushions and frame – remains the same as the original DreamWear.

If you're already a DreamWear user, you can easily upgrade your mask by purchasing the new DreamWear Headgear with Arms.

What other cushions are compatible with the DreamWear Nasal Mask?

The DreamWear Nasal Mask features a modular frame, allowing you to switch between different cushion types for comfort and preference. Compatible options include the DreamWear silicone nasal pillow cushion, and the DreamWear full face cushion*.

*When using the full face cushion, you'll also need the DreamWear Full Face Mask Headgear (sold separately).

How do I find the size of my DreamWear Nasal Mask?

Cushion Size: Look for the size indicator on the front of the cushion, near the arrow that points to the connection point with the frame.

Frame Size: The frame size is stamped on the top of the frame, close to where it connects to the elbow swivel.

How often should I replace my DreamWear Nasal Mask?

To maintain the best fit and seal for your CPAP therapy, we recommend replacing the entire mask, including the headgear and frame, every 6 months.

The silicone cushion, however, may need to be replaced more frequently, typically every 2 to 3 months. Silicone naturally softens over time, which can affect its ability to create a good seal.

A. Any Tube will fit this mask. If it does not, you have an old piece of hard plastic stuck in your tube or you are missing the small white tube on the mask.

Q. Ive been through various types of mask until i got this dreamwear silicone pillows mask. It feels great but its leaking air in two places i think. I feel air coming L tube and i think theres a small slit half an inch below the pillows. Also, when pre-vamping, my oxygen level stays steady at 81%. When the timer is done and goes to max air, my oxygen level stays steady at 85%. Please help.

A. Yes that slit by your nasal pillow needs to be there. It is part of your exhalation port. The part of air by your L tube is another venting system to help keep the CO2 down. Those are not supposed to be blocked or covered. If you do your body will retain the CO2 and that is not good. If your O2 levels are lower please consult with your doctor and see what he would like to change.

I have received the Dreamwear nasal mask and have used it for three nights. I have been using the F&P Eson2 nasal mask medium size. I wanted to try something else because my current mask leaked air into my eyes causing them to dry out and they stayed irritated all the time. My pressure setting is at 12.
The Dreamwear nasal mask medium size fits perfectly according to the pictures and sizing information that came with it. I noticed that there was minimal air leaks and it was far enough away from my eyes that even the leaks would not blow on my eyes. Other positive aspects are that it is very light and does not obstruct my vision if I need to look at something. Lastly it does not leave those marks on my face. The nasal mask has not made the end of my nose sore either. At this point, I am very pleased with this mask. I have made several purchases from Respshop and am 100% satisfied with them. The only negative thing about the mask is that strap will pull up on the back of my head if I move my head in the wrong direction. This is due to the minimal amount of headgear used. That’s a trade that I can live with.

This mask is great. Used a nasal pillow for last three years but discovered my mouth opens as my jaw relaxes during sleep so needed to switch to a full-face mask which was not something I looked forward to as any previously tried were big, bulky, hard and uncomfortable. The Dreamwear Nasal Mask is just as comfortable as the nasal pillow was and my apnea occurrences are way down. Plus, having the air hose attach at the top is really nice. I tend to move in my sleep and no longer get the air hose wrapped up in blankets.
My suggestion to first time users would be to order the option with all four sizes of pillows and try them all until you get the fit perfect for you. I measure medium but find that the large fits my facial bone structure best.
I use my cpap every night and am very pleased with the sleep I am getting while using this mask.

This new mask is life changing. I have not been woken up by air leaks, noise, skin irratation, it doesn't leave marks on my face. I can watch TV or read without the mask in the way. I can get up and use the bathroom with the quick disconnect.
My wife woke me up slightly panicked, because she hard no air leaking while I was quietly sleeping, she has never heard that.

The cartilage between the nostrils was damaged when I was young. took a few days for nose to adjust to the pressure of the cushion. With DreamWear mask, it is possible to sleep on your side.

Only negative is the headgear, it looses its shape and tension within a month. It needs to be longer lasting.

I LOVE THIS MASK! I always had problems with my old mask. But this mask is the best ever invented. No leaks. No dekubitus. You don't even know, you wear a mask. Perfect for side-sleepers. I did not use my CPAP often in history because of the old mask. But now I use it every day. You should buy the Fit Pack, so you can try the perfect size. I use medium, although I should use Large (looking in the sizing frame and testing like written in the manual). But medium is better for me. So better try all sizes.

Subject: Dreamwear Nasal Cushion is a good mask
I started wearing this mask with the wrong size. MY FAULT. I should have used the little measuring thingy. I thought I was a medium because my husband said, "That one is good". LOL Anywhoooo...lots of leaks when the pressure increased. So I changed to a small cushion size and that really helped. Learn from me. The measuring thingy is better than your husband's opinion. And the mask is very comfortable and flip around and sleep on my side and squish my face. I have to still give it a 4 because it is still leaking a bit with high pressure. I just got the Resmed Airfit p30i and the pillows hold a much better seal. And it's comfortable. So I like it better.

Subject: Mask needs improvement
I’ve been wearing this mask for a couple of years. My only issue is that the strap slides up the back of my head during the night (breaks off my hair), and then the nasal cushion becomes loose and the hissing starts and wakes me up... I pull the strap down and the cycle begins again. I could pull it really tight and create lines in my face, I suppose, but that’s not comfortable at all. In order to sleep on my side, I have to put my hands on top of each other and then under my head/face, or it cuts the air on that side and here we go again w/the hissing, etc. if I sleep on my back with head straight or little lean to the side, it’s great. It’s comfortable, quiet, and doesn’t block your view.

I am writing this after only one night of usage. I will update it later if need be.
Okay, the mask is comfortable for me. The only issue I see so far is leakage. I can feel is leaking air around the hose connection on top of the head. I know it won't be "air" tight because it is a moving-rotating part so maybe this is normal. It does fit pretty well around the nose but I do feel some leakage there, too at times.
Results after one night: I love the hose connection on top of the head because there is no hose under the arm or across the chest, etc. That is the biggest plus for me. I felt like I did get enough air but a couple of times I was wondering if I was. Now, this is after one use so I could be in error.
Because of the air connection being on top of the head, I might buy this mask again just for that reason unless it proves to be too leaky and not work well.

This was a new mask; I was trying to use one similar to my last sleep study. The fit is amazing! Overall, my breathing has been more consistent. If I had one complaint, it would be that my nose is still 'scarring' from the pressure point. It's getting better, but I would have preferred to not have to deal with that. I suppose that's the price of trying something different than I'd used for the last 14 years.
Will probably get this style again when it becomes necessary.

History: started with the "pig nose" sort of mask, which can be difficult if you have facial hair. Used the Nuance Pro Respironics for several years, but it started to irritate my nostrils. So... gave this one a try.

Wasn't sure I was going to like having the hose attached, top of head rather than to the front of the mask. Ha. Probably my favorite thing about this new mask. No problem. I haven't noticed the hose at all since using this mask.

As for the rest, well on the good side, the thing is ridiculously comfortable and the straps don't dig into my face. When it's on right, I barely feel it present at all. Middle of the road, it sounds louder to my own ears (but my wife does not notice a difference in that way). Not too big a problem, though. White noise, kind of pleasant. My only complaint is, I have more trouble keeping this guy seated properly when on my side. Only using it a few weeks now so perhaps I'll find the magic combination to make that work better. Having my face toward the edge of the pillow helps.

I would give it 5/5 except for that one tweak.

Nasal pillows irritate my sinuses, so I prefer the cushion. That said, I am a side sleeper, and the pillow I lie on tends to push the cushion under my nose out of place. Unfortunately, the head gear is too little to assist keeping it in place. I end up bracing my hand against the mask all night or placing a second pillow against the cushion, to keep it in place while on my side. Nevertheless, my machine always registers that I have a leak. I've ignored that warning, since this mask is more comfortable than any other I've had over the last 20 years of CPAP wear. Only wish there were an optional strap or spongy seal around the cushion, to keep it in place when sleeping on a pillow on the side of one's face.

I am very pleased with the DreamWear mask overall. This is really the first mask I have used other than the mask I wore the night of the testing at the sleep center. The mask at the center was a full face mask and the the MOST uncomfortable thing I have ever worn. This mask is very light and comfortable.I have even worn it watching TV at bedtime and forget I even have it on. I did not give it a 5 rating because it does tend to come off easily while sleeping - that being said I am a very restless sleeper so that may be more my problem than the mask.

I have a deviated septum, I have both the dreamware and Nuance Pro, because the chamber is so small both masks increase the sound of my breathing. if you leap on your back or on your side with no pillow over your head the breathing sound is relativity low. I sleep on my side with a pillow over my head. The sound travels up the tube and is loud, but if you use a microfiber blanket it will quit it down but is still very noticeable. The Dreamwear is very conferrable with a little pressure below your nose. You have to get the correct size frame(not just pillow) I have a large head and the medium frame causes the pillow to sit at the wrong angel and you get air leak. They give you a guide to find the correct size pillow. Basically the pillow needs to a little past the tip of your nose.

the Nuance Pro is about as load but, is only for a medium size head the gel pad hit high on my cheek bone and leave a mark in the morning.

I do not like the plastic on plastic connection.
Every time I take the mask off my hair get caught and it tears my hair breaking it off.
I’ve tried several ways to remove the mask without getting damage.

Subject: Review of new nasal mask
Unfortunately this is not for me. I am not used to the air coming brom the face below the nose. I tried for several nights but it moved around my face too easily for me. I also had difficulty pulling the entire mask off over my head each time I had to get up at night. It would have worked better for me if there was an easy way to unattatch from the face in the middle of the night. Great idea and did not leave marks on my face. Wish it had worked.

The dreamwear nasal CPAP that I just purchased is not as comfortable to wear. The nasal apparatus is not as good as other nasal apparatus. I might have to buy the new nasal apparatus that actually have prongs that inserts inside.....more money.

I've only been using for a few nights for the first time ever using a cpap. This one leaks a the top connection. I think it has air holes. Leaks around the nose at times. Im not sure how its supposed to fit.

While this is the most comfortable mask to wear and sleep in, if you have hair it won't stay on when you sleep. I wake up many time throughout the night. I constantly wakeup and have to put the mask back on. Does not promote a good night's sleep. They really need to have a different frame for people with hair. My husband used this same frame for years with no problems until he decided to grow his hair out. Now he has the same problem as I do.

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous review: When you get up in the middle of the night, you have to remove the entire mask. There is no quick way to disconnect the mask from the hose. If you want to keep the mask on for your bathroom break, you have to pull the hose out of its connection to the mask frame. Other systems I've tried have an easy disconnect at that hose connection place. I find this to be a not insignificant detriment of this system. The head gear requires special placement of the hair, to avoid a matted look in the morning. Having to redo this placement after each bathroom break is a nuisance, especially in a sleepy condition! I've subtracted a point for this.

Not very happy with it. Because the hose attaches on top of my head it is difficult to hook up, with catches in my hair and clashes with the headboard of my bed. Also, it takes some fiddling get it to sit properly under my nose. Even then it sometimes shifts during the night. The small amount of air leakage that is ‘normal’ can be irksome blowing on my face. To clean it requires pulling the headgear straps out through openings in the mask assembly and I wonder how many times it will last before it rips. I’m going get the Pilairo again and return this one. The problem is that I won’t get a refund OR a retroactive store credit BEFORE I can change it.

The product description LIES. It contains the following statement: Dreamwear headgear are considered to be one in the same and are available in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large however as with most mask on the market a majority of users will find that the Medium size fits perfectly.

The HEADGEAR ONLY COMES IN ONE SIZE!!! If you click on the link (Dreamwear headgeat) in the above statement it says this on the order page:
This Headgear/Head-Strap is only available in one size. The compatibility of this will only be limited to the DreamWear and cannot work with other mask on the CPAP market.

The mask/cushion is excellent and very comfortable. The air delivery is ingenious and especially great for side-sleepers. But, the headgear (only 1 size remember) does not meet the efficiency of the mask/tubing. It slips up the back of the head, thus moving the mask and causing air leakage. There needs to be an additional anchor point that goes UNDER the ear and secures the mask/tubing in place throughout the night.

Subject: Dreamwear CPAP nasal mask
Not the mask for me. It gets stuck to my hair and pulls it. When I move at night when I'm asleep, the connection gets caught on to the headboard and bed causing me to wake up and adjust it. What I do like is that I can wear my glasses with the mask on and read or watch TV prior to going to sleep. I'll keep this one as a backup and stay with the same style CPAP mask I have been using for years.

This mask was a disappointment, the soft nasal part collapses, and headgear doesn't fit well, maybe just too big, but nothing seemed to fit me. I've used nasal masks, full face masks, and another nasal mask, which hurt my nose trying to get it tight enough not to leak. I had leaks with this mask, couldn't get it tight enough and with the soft nasal part collapsing, not a good night sleep. Wouldn't recommend it.

This is a good idea, but even with the small tubing, my mask leaks and I don't get any rest unless I stay on my back. I have the medium head band, maybe that's all I need. Judge for yourself, it is very comfortable, but at the same time noisy.

The sized cushions kept popping off mount on side arms. In short time plastic inserts fell out as well. Could tape together as nothing sticks to silicone material. Finally wife got cloth stretch band aids to stick to save vacation.
Pic attached. Obviously this is now my worst headgear.

It sounds like your cushion may not be the correct size or there may be a defect.
I have never experienced this issue with my Dreamwear so I suggest you call us.
The new headgear with "Arms' is also nice as it helps to keep mask from slipping.

Subject: New Respironics DreamWear under the nose mask
I can't see that it is any different except for the knobs on the side. I dislike them intensely; they catch in my hair. I ordered a silk skull cap to wear, but it just bunches up. Anything heavier would make me way too hot.
I went back to my old mask because I couldn't deal with my hair getting pulled out.
I would like to return it or exchange it for the old style, if Respshop would do that.
