Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine by Breas

This Ultra-Small and Lightweight Z2 CPAP machine is perfect for travel just like its predecessor the Z1 CPAP machine.  This machine weighs only 10.3 ounces and is just 6.48" X 3.30" X 2.02" and easily fits into any carry bag. It also includes an Auto start and stop feature and a free Q- Lite to muffle any noise in the mask area. Not only is this machine light and quiet but you can use any mask with this machine so take your favorite mask with you when you travel!  Need humidification, no problem, this machine offers tank-less humidification through their Heat Moisture Exchanger  or HME, which recycles heat and moisture from your exhaled air so no need to bring distilled water with you when you travel.

The Z2 offers the same great integrated battery options as the Z1 for off-the-grid travel where power is limited. Add the optional PowerShell  which is sold separately

Read How to Travel with the Breas Z2 Travel Auto CPAP Machine

Travel-Friendly Machine

Weighing slightly less than 1 lb and approximately the size of a smartphone, the Z2 Auto Travel CPAP is both compact and lightweight. It takes up minimal space in a backpack or suitcase and is ideal for the tight quarters of a tent or car.

Z-Breathe Exhalation Relief
The Z2 Auto Travel machine comes with comfort features you will find in any top-notch CPAP machine.  The Z-Breathe Exhalation relief function reduces air pressure during exhalation making it much easier to breathe against the incoming air.  The Z2 offers 3 levels of Z-Breathe for your comfort and you will be able to select which level is best for you.

Automatic Altitude Adjustment
Ideal for users traveling through the mountains, the Z2 APAP machine automatically detects altitude changes and adjusts the therapy pressure accordingly. The machine is capable of operating at sea level all the way up to 8,000 feet.

Leak Compensation
The Z2 CPAP is capable of detecting minor leaks from your CPAP Mask.  When you experience a mask leak, the device will kick in to ensure that your prescribed pressure needs are met.  Should an excessive leak occur, the screen will warn you that your mask is leaking with the word "REMINDER" shown in bold. To remove "REMINDER" from your screen,  simply adjust the mask back into the proper position.

Nitelog Mobile App (iOS /Android )
Breas' Nitelog mobile app lets users view their AHI, sleep hours and generate a compliance report. To use the free Breas Nitelog app with your Z2, you'll need to download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and enable Bluetooth on the machine.

Please note that the Nitelog app may not be compatible with all Android devices due to developer limitation. (Breas is currently working on an update for their Nitelog app).

To turn Bluetooth on, simply unplug the power adapter from the machine, and then plug it back in while holding the up arrow button on the device. Once Bluetooth has been activated, the display menu will indicate "bt-On". To turn Bluetooth off, you can either put your device in airplane mode or do the opposite of what you did to turn it on in the first place: unplug the power adapter, then plug it back in while holding the down arrow button. The screen will display "bt-Off" after Bluetooth has been disabled.

Subject: Z2 Auto CPAP
I was excited to have a travel APAP machine that would be easier to transport than my Philip's Dream Station. That was until I actually used it! I assembled it properly and my nasal mask was snug, but even if I managed to fall asleep, I would wake up after an hour or so and be unable to go back to sleep because of the noise level. I tried to use it 3 nights in a row without any success. It never occurred to me that this would be an issue and it would be nice if the company could make some kind of modification to alleviate the problem.

Hi Laura,
We're sorry to hear this! Travel units are louder than home units because there is less room for sound abatement insulation.
Have you tried using the Q-lite in-line muffler that comes with the Z2? It will help reduce the noise. This is how you connect the muffler:
machine --> tube adapter --> 8" tube --> muffler --> 4 ft tube --> HME (if using)--> mask

Subject: The NiteLog app can lose data if you change timezones!
The Z2 is a "travel" APAP, but when you travel and decide to check your compliance data, the app asks if you want to change the device timezone to match where you are currently located. You say to yourself, "Sure! I should do that".
Well, ..just don't!
If you do change time zone, then all the compliance data history on your iOS device app gets wiped and starts over as Day 1 for the new timezone. If your job requires compliance data reports then you're going to show a hole in the data when you travel and make the mistake of changing timezones. This is weird bug for a "travel" unit.
Otherwise, I find the unit to be very effective, lightweight, quiet, and comfortable to use. Without the software bug I'd rate it a 5

Subject: Breas
I recently received my Breas rental machine and I love! I chose this machine because of the wonderful staff at RespShop, I explained to them how sensitive my wife is to sound and that she is just able to tolerate my home machine as of recently, however, anything significantly louder then I may have been on the couch for the duration of our trip! I was informed that this machine is the most quiet of them all which worked great in my favor. I also occasionally have issues with humidity, despite going to a more moist climate I also purchased the Breas HME. I only ended up having to use the one out of the two I purchased which lasted a week. I was very appreciative of the staff for making me aware that this may have been an issue. I already used Respshop as my supplier of my equipment. They knew which mask I already, I was told it would work with it and it did! Always great and knowledgeable staff, quick delivery and easy returns which is very appreciated. Will likely purchase the Breas Z2 for my next trip!

Subject: Z2 Auto
Just used my Z2 Auto for the first time on a business trip. It's easy to use, not too noisy, and I like it much more than by Philips Respironics machine that I have at home. Good product!

Question
Does the Breas Z2 Auto qualify for Medicare DME coverage? I am due for a CPAP replacement and would like to get a smaller unit that would work better for travel.

Answer
Hi there! You would need to contact your insurance regarding coverage or reimbursement first before placing an order as we cannot bill insurance directly.

Question
I received my Z2 but the time is incorrect. I can't seem to find how to change the time on the device.

Answer
You can change the date and time on your Z1 or Z2 Auto, by connecting it to the Nitelog app on an iPhone/iPad or most Android devices. The app should prompt you to sync to the local date and time upon start up.

Question
My doctor has written me a Prescription for a Travel CPAP. Currently I use a Airsense 11 and use the EPR at 3. Does the Breas also have the EPR setting as well ?

Answer
Yes, the Breas Z2 device calls it a Z-Breathe and you have an option to set it from off- 3. It is the same concept, an advanced comfort option that will reduce the pressure from your CPAP when you exhale, making it easier to breathe and helping your therapy feel as natural as possible.

Question
I recently purchased this machine and it seems like my Nitelog app is not working with my phone (Android). Is there another way I can look at the details of my data?

Answer
Unfortunately, we do not receive any advanced notice when the Android operating system is being changed by Google. An added complication is that the Android operating system is not exactly the same for every phone manufacturer using it. At the moment there are hundreds of different Android phones on the market.
Breas is currently in the process of revising the Nitelog app program to address these changes to the Android OS. But this update will take time to be developed. We do not currently have an ETA for this.
The good news is the Breas has a desk top software, and the USB cable that came with your machine will be able to assist with plugging your machine to your lap top or computer. You can also make changes to your clinical settings on the device itself.

Question
Is this an “international” cpap? Can I plug this in to both 110 and 220 power supplies for both US and international travel?

Answer
The Z2 has a built in converter. You only need a plug adapter when traveling out of country. https://www.respshop.com/cpap-supplies/battery-power/medili-universal-travel-charger-adapter-plug-p-156.html

Question
do we need a doctors cert to get one for New Zealand

Answer
If you are shipping to New Zealand, then you will not need a prescription.

Question
I am travelling with my Breas Z2 internationally, do I need to take a copy of my sleep study or CPAP prescription with me ?

Answer
It is not mandatory to carry the prescription for the machine. However, in a rare event, a TSA agent might need an additional information for your equipment, and if you don't have one, they may argue that you're using the machine unlawfully.

Also, if your CPAP device breaks down, you'll need the prescription to get an emergency replacement or supplies you may have forgotten to pack. So it is a good practice to keep your doctor's prescription handy because you can never know when an emergency could arise.

Question
If I'm travelling internationally, will I need a power converter?

Answer
The power conversion will happen within the cable. The power brick allows for 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. What you will need is a wall adapter to physically plug the machine in to the wall. They are available here: https://www.respshop.com/cpap-supplies/battery-power/medili-universal-travel-charger-adapter-plug-p-156.html

Question
Will I have to take this Z2 to my doctor to set it up if I purchase with you?

Answer
No, you will not. We will set up your cpap as per your prescription before we ship it out.
