For Reference Only
A CPAP with a Sleek Design and Exceptional Performance
Featuring a stylish and compact design that allows for the machine to blend in perfectly with its environment, the ICON+ Auto CPAP also delivers on its performance allowing for exceptional sleep apnea therapy without the bulk and noise of other CPAP machines. The ergonomic design makes it possible to fit the machine on your bedside table, and features a built in alarm clock, allowing for reduced clutter, making your CPAP machine more versatile while giving you added bonus features that other CPAP machines do not. The ICON+ Auto CPAP is noise free resulting in a more comfortable night's sleep for you and your partner.
Auto CPAP
The ICON+ Auto CPAP machine with humidifier is designed to change pressure settings automatically as your breathing habits change over the course of the night. Using its flow based algorithm, the ICON+ will check for limitations and apneas on every breath. If and when you experience an event, the ICON+ will increase the pressure automatically until it has cleared the obstruction or it reaches its maximum pressure level, resulting in a more night's sleep.
Built in Heated Humidifier with ThermoSmart Technology
CPAP therapy generally dries the nasal passages leading to congestion, but heated humidification helps re-saturate the air reducing the congestion and providing more comfort during CPAP use. Ambient temperatures can have an effect on typical humidifiers performance, but with ThermoSmart technology the ICON+ Auto CPAP Machine with Humidifier delivers custom humidification levels that are maintained throughout CPAP use no matter what the outside temperatures are, reducing condensation in the mask and providing better therapy. You can also purchase heated tubing to reduce rainout and provide constant temperatures.
Dishwasher Safe Water Chamber
Holding up to 420 milliliters of water, this one piece chamber is easy to remove and clean, including working in a dishwasher to reduce the daily maintenance required for CPAP therapy users.
InfoSmart
The ICON+ Auto's USB SmartStick can record up to a year's worth of compliance data, 30 days' worth of AHI pressure and leaking data, and cumulative data that allows the user to manage and store their data in whichever way they choose, resulting in a more efficient way of analyzing and sharing data with health care providers.
SensAwake Breathing Algorithm
Pressure is dropped automatically when the user wakes up after a night of CPAP therapy, reintroducing the patient to normal conditions and relieving the user of any potential irritations. When your breathing patterns become irregular, SensAwake automatically reduces pressure to help reduce the amount of times CPAP therapy users wake up in the middle of the night.
Travel Friendly
Compact design that is light weight for the users, the ICON Auto CPAP machine with humidifier is travel friendly, reducing travel stresses that come with logging heavier, bulkier, CPAP devices around in luggage.
Default Settings:
- Pressure Range: 4-18 cm H2O
- Menu Style: 1 (Simple Mode)

Reviewers Tip:
The water chamber in the ICON+ Auto CPAP Machine is much easier than other water chambers that I have dealt with. There are no latches or buttons to press, just twist the lid, lift up, and pull out the water chamber to dump out any excess water from the previous night and refill with new water. As with all CPAP machines where you use a humidifier, I recommend using distilled water to lengthen the life of the chamber and to receive best results from your CPAP therapy.

FAQ
I am used to having a humidifier with my CPAP machines, where I can I purchase a humidifier for the ICON?
The ICON Auto actually comes with a built in heated humidifier that works with normal tubing, providing bonus comfort to CPAP machines that do not have humidifiers. You can also purchase heated tubing for additional relief depending on your personal preferences.
Is there a mask included in the purchase of this machine?
No, all masks come separately from machines allowing you to choose your preferred mask and size. All of the masks sold at Respshop are compatible with this machine and any of our CPAP, APAP, or BiPAP machines so that you have a wide variety of choices available to you.

I ordered my Fisher & Paykel "ICON" from Respshop on Wednesday evening 13th June 2012 (Adelaide, S.A. local time- Australia) with instructions for delivery to our hotel at Waikiki Beach, Hawaii.
As per Respshop's policy and promise, - I received my auto CPAP machine through the efficient service of FEDEX upon my arrival at the hotel on Friday, 15th June 2012, initiating a wonderful four week family holiday in the USA.
Since my family and I were so impressed with the competent service offered by Respshop, we paid their despatch centre in Bellvue, Seattle a visit, meeting Respshop sales team who were all most hospitable and helpful, - a great team.
Although the Fisher & Paykel and Resmed CPAP machines are said to be manufactured and sold in Australia, I found the Respshop prices to be significantly cheaper than they are in Australia.
On Tuesday, 10th July 2012, while in San Diego, I notified the Respshop that my F&P "Forma" full face mask's foam cushion had broken at the 'nose bridge' and required replacing.
Bich corresponded through the Respshop's on-line chat line and offered to send on a replacement over night to my hotel in San Diego.
Again, as promised, it was delivered by Fedex the next day or Wednesday 11th July 2012 along with other items included in my order.
I have full praise for the Respshop, Fedex and I am now having a good night's sleep every night with the assistance of my robust and reliable Fisher & Paykel, "Icon".
Congratulations, Respshop sales team on your great Respshop.

Firstly, I'd like to comment on Respshop and my experience with them. I ordered my Icon on 22 June and it arrived on 26 June, just 4 days later, fully set to my specifications. We live in Australia, and often wait longer than this for post from interstate let alone international, so I was extremely happy with this area. I couldn't be happier with the way they serviced my account and its so very reassuring to know that you can purchase from the other side of the world with full confidence.
I have had access to access to an Icon for a two week period, at the direction of my doctor, to trail the machine for suitability and compatibility. I write this short review after one full nights use of my own purchased new machine. All in all, the machine is wonderful. Its easy menu makes programming a very simple process and it delivers a full range of user friendly, useful functions that should met the most demanding of customers. Its winter out here at the moment, so the atmosphere is cold and damp. It also purchased the heated delivery hose (I believe only the Fisher Paykel machines have this feature) and it's completely overcome the issue of 'rain out'. If your not sure what that is, it's when the cold room temperature causes the humidified air in your hose to condense and run down the hose and into your mask. Its a rather unpleasant experience and should be avoided if possible. The heated hose seems to solve that issue, at least it has for me. It's great.
My previous experience with the machine involved the use of an Respironics easylife mask, but I purchased an Opus Nasal pillow to try, and it's also been very good. I find I am a fairly restless sleeper and tend to roll a lot from side to side. Even though the easylfe is renowned for its sealing ability, I found the seal often broke as a result of my movement. To date, no such problem with the nasal pillow, its comfortable, but allows for independent movement without loss of pressure. I'd really recommend this for anyone having similar issues.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with my experiences. looking forward to many years of restful sleep.

I ordered this on the Thursday before Easter, a four day holiday in Australia. Shipped instantly from Seattle via FedEx, the package cleared customs in Sydney, according the FedEx site, at 8.05pm on Easter Sunday, having had an exciting trip via Oakland, LA and honolulu. Delivered to my rural front door at 7am on Wednesday - excellent.
I had mentioned in my order the cm settings of my prescription. I was advised by email that I could download manuals etc, and downloaded a manual which provided me with advice on accessing the clinicians' menu - which I did, and there confirmed that the cm settings of my script had been put into the machine before despatch. Excellent. I had to set the time AND set the time zone, not hard to do.
I had rented a ResMed AutoSet machine after diagnosis and used it for a week. I had planned to buy the same item for long term use, but in Australia the price of the Australian ResMed machine was quoted as $1965. Much less at this online store, but at the checkout I learned that they were not allowed to export ResMed products, though they could export anything else. (A restraint on trade by ResMed which to my mind may be contrary to the Australia-US Free Trade Agreement, Chapter 14, and Australia's COMPETITION AND CONSUMER ACT 2010 - SECT 45B).
So that is why I opted instead for this New Zealand product plus Fisher Paykel Forma Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear... wondering how smart if was to order items unseen. In the event, very pleased......
The ICON Auto is very simple to set up, in its bag it seems lighter (and the bag is smaller) than the Resmed machine. Elsewhere reviewers have made these comparisons:
- Resmed S9 24 decibels, Icon 30 --- I can't tell the difference, if anything the Icon seems quieter, even though it sits up high on bedside cupboard, while I had to put the Redmed lower, out of line of sight from bed-top, in a drawer hung way out, no room on top;
- Resmed easier to take out humidifier, clean and replace, they said elsewhere.... If you have severe arthritis you may find twisting and untwisting the lid on the Icon a little difficult but you may find the front catch of the Resmed tricky too. It's very simple to clean the Icon, not as complex to put it back together as is the ResMed, with its three piece water container.
My other thoughts:
- the smaller footprint of the Icon is very helpful, compared with the wide shelf space of Resmed S9 (see decibels para above).
- the exit for the pipe on the Icon has a swivel, which means also less space, and you can aim the tube where you wish. I did buy the heated tube for the Icon, you should do that, to avoid germ-collecting puddles in the tube (not just a matter for cold places, I think).
- the awake sensor seems interesting, it appears to downshift the air supply, encouraging you to take the mask off. This in contrast to my experience with the ResMed which seems to be something of an affront on waking, shoving buckets of air down my system, making me gasp and open my mouth (perhaps because I have woken from an apnea event which it has responded to???)
.
- I haven't figured out how to leave the Icon clock visible, but as I expect less wake-ups now (continuing from experience with the S9), this may not matter!
I had been using ResMed Mirage Activa LT Nasal Mask ($99 here, $250 or so in Australia, sigh). Comfortable but not solving a mouth breathing problem entirely. So I ordered the Fisher Paykel Forma Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear and it seems both comfortable and very simple to take apart and clean.
In sum: both machines are good. I cannot support the inclination on the web to rate the ResMed higher. The Icon suits me fine, perhaps more than the S9.
