Battery Running Time Estimates

Definitive battery times are hard to provide for any electronic device, as consumption is dependent on several factors such as device model, settings, leaks, battery quality and age, unique breathing patterns of the patient, environmental conditions (hot or cold weather), and external accessories such as a humidifier and heated tubing. A good estimate of battery life would set the ResMed S9 AutoSet/Elite/Escape running at 10cm pressure without humidifier or heated tubing as an example. In this case the battery will have an approximate charge good for 13 hours working time. If extra load is place (for example, 20 cm H2O, with medium heated humidifier and heated tubing settings) the battery life estimate is 2 hours. If you will be highly dependent on the battery, we recommend that your purchase additional batteries for convenience and peace of mind.

The Convenience of Utilizing Two Batteries

If you are going to use two batteries, then a coupler kit is needed, to be able to connect the two in series. A Velcro strap is included with the coupler kit so you can put one battery on top of the other, and then secure it with the Velcro strap. You can charge the batteries together or use them to power a device, with one being the main power source and the other as a back up power source. You can purchase an additional battery here.

The user can choose the correct output voltage for a particular device by using the voltage output selector located on the RPS II rear panel. The battery has to be used with the correct DC cable, so that it can be used with any ResMed device as an alternative power source when needed. The AC power cord provides back up power to the therapy device when connected to the power outlet.
